Guests appreciated the attentive staff and luxurious breakfast. They also enjoyed spacious, traditional rooms and well-maintained Japanese hot springs. However, some may find the facilities modern but not traditional enough.

It’s a small Onsen with few rooms but that made our stay more relaxing and comfortable. Attentive services with an eagerness to explain everything to you despite the language barrier. The outdoor private Onsen was a plus that we enjoyed very much. The downside was the aged room and toilet we got. However, this was compensated by the food that was absolutely fantastic and unsuspectly filling 😋

Onsen hotel offering excellent service, superb food and privacy. Service was next to nothing, staff offered Salmon sushi and malt tea at no extra cost as I choosed to skip breakfast to catch up with early bus schedule. The room was very clean and quite spacious. Dinner and breakfast was in Kaiseki style. The food was excellent, particularly the sashimi and the Hida beef (both grilled and sukiyaki). The use of local ingredients added to the uniqueness of the experience. The onsen was not big but cozy. Considering the hotel has about 20 rooms only, it offer very good privacy and I enjoyed the public bath twice alone in my 2 days stay. Rental private bath was a good surprise and worth to try if you are traveling in pair. Location is a bit far from train and bus station up on the top of the hill, but the the pickup service and a nice view of the mountain compensated for that.

The hotel is in the style of a traditional Japanese hot spring hotel. The room is very comfortable and clean, but the bathroom is old and the private bath room is very good. The dinner is very delicious!

He compared his own double booking with me in the open-air bath room, the language was not clear, so he had to accept it at that time! Helpless! He has an upgrade room than me, but I want an open-air bath, but I don't have a drying room! tease

The inn offers a great sense of privacy, with a small number of rooms and relaxed hospitality. The rooms are mostly elegant Japanese-style rooms, and choosing a course with an open-air bath in the room is also a good idea. As expected, the food was delicious, and I was impressed by the taste of the Hida beef. The hot spring water was smooth against the skin, and my body remained warm for a long time. We were able to enjoy a relaxing time together in a very quiet and calming room. A stroll around the well-maintained grounds was also worthwhile.

The inn we chose for our first stay in Gero Onsen was Kaiseki Yado Suihouen. It is an inn that takes pride in its cuisine and is located on a hill on the east side of the hot spring town of Gero Onsen. There are only 17 guest rooms in total, but the inside of the inn does not feel small at all. There is a lovely garden and the atmosphere inside the inn is very nice. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant attached to the inn. We were very satisfied with the course of food, which was beautiful to look at, as well as the main dish of Hida beef steak. The breakfast the next day was incredibly luxurious. There were plates with many dishes lined up on a large table. Of course, all the dishes were delicious and very filling. After eating everything, our stomachs were full and we didn't eat anything until dinner that day. The spring quality of Gero Onsen is also good. The alkaline spring water, which has a pH of about 9, made our skin very smooth. Of course, the service was impeccable and the inn lived up to its reputation and even exceeded it.

Kaiseki Inn Suihoen is located on a hill a little east of the center of Gero Onsen, and as its name "kaiseki inn" suggests, it prides itself on its cuisine. With only a dozen or so rooms, we hardly ever met other guests during our stay. We had the lobby, the beautiful garden, and the hot springs all to ourselves, and the public spaces as well as the rooms were very comfortable. For dinner, which we looked forward to, we had an Italian course meal at the attached Italian restaurant. Of course, the main dish was Hida beef, and the atmosphere of the restaurant, the beauty of the food, and of course the taste were all impeccable. This is the perfect hot spring inn for a couple to relax in.
