Caldera Creta Paradise

Recently returned from a week’s stay and throughly enjoyed our time at this hotel. Unfortunately (& not the hotels fault) our flight was delayed so we didn’t arrive till late at night & we completely forgot to ask appropriate questions. So the first 24hrs we went in a bit blind till reception helped us with the hotel app the next day. All the reception staff we spoke to were lovely & helpful. I have mobility problems & struggled with the steps up to reception, but soon learnt there was a lift & disabled toilets opposite reception, to the left of the arcade. Our room was lovely, overlooking the sea & park and had a good size balcony. The room was cleaned every day & the few times we bumped into the cleaning team they were all lovely. Bed was big and very comfortable and the air conditioning was very good welcomed in the evening. Showers are over a bath, which was a bit tricky with mobility issues, but i managed for the week. Prior to going we had read some of the reviews and were a bit concerned regarding the ‘nothing to eat’ comments, especially going with two ASD children. The main restaurant, I’ve never seen food like it, rows & rows of food! With a big section at the back for kids. The kids food trays were fantastic for keeping food separate, especially for kids with food sensitivity & the need to keep things separate. My partner commented that he doesn’t think he’s eaten so many different types of fish in a week, in his life. They had a different theme every night. Even the snack bar under the restaurant was open from about 11 till 5ish and served more hot & cold food & ice cream. But everyone in the catering team were lovely & there was always plenty to eat. The pool bar staff worked non stop & we’re all lovely. Initially & because of our late arrival we thought we were restricted to beer, wine & soft drinks. But once we got the app there were plenty of local/ non branded drinks on offer included on the all inclusive package & our 7year old loved her ice age cocktail. The pool was a great size and one side was ideal depth for little ones (a small separate little kids pool as well) & plenty going on throughout the day. We even learnt that we could use the pool in the hotel next door & they had a quieter pool across the road. Even the family in the shop were lovely & so helpful, taking the time to chat with you each day. They even remembered our last day (& other guests) and said good bye when we were leaving. The entertainment team worked non stop. The evening entertainment was targeted around families and had something to cater for everyone 6 nights of the week. There were also a few stalls selling local items one night. Our 7yo loved the kids disco & I know some complained about the same format, but for an ASD child this was fantastic and made her holiday. We are currently staying at Caldera Creta Paradise, and to say we are disappointed is a massive understatement. This hotel is nowhere near the advertised 4+ star Blue Star standard – it’s misleading and frankly unacceptable for the high price we paid. We arrived late in the evening and were not offered any food, despite this being a basic service at most resorts. The service from the hotel staff has been shockingly poor and indifferent. We were placed in a depressing room in the main building with a “view” of a parking lot and a noisy road – constant traffic, noise, and zero atmosphere. Even worse, our room was infested with ants. They were everywhere – crawling on the floor, in our suitcases, and even in our clothes. We have complained to reception three times, and every time they’ve given us empty promises to “take care of it” and told us to “give it a chance.” No room change. No solution. Just a complete waste of our time and energy. We’ve lost three days trying to get something as simple as a livable room. We booked this trip with TUI, hoping for better support, but their on-site staff has been useless as well. We’ve spoken with their guides multiple times, and guess what? Still nothing happens. The food at the buffet is repetitive and uninspired – the same options every day. Not what you’d expect from a so-called 4+ star hotel. The beds are also a joke. We were promised a double bed, but instead got a mattress that had clearly been replaced with a smaller 3/4 bed section at the top. Completely uncomfortable and bizarre. Sleep is nearly impossible. There’s constant noise from loud guests in the hallways at night, and a persistent humming noise in the room (possibly from the ventilation) that drives you mad after a while. This place is an absolute disaster. We will never return – and strongly advise you to stay far away. Don’t waste your hard-earned money. Caldera Creta Paradise is a massive letdown on every level.

We have stayed 8 nights all inclusive. It is our second time as we were also here 8 years ago. The facilities are great and the swim-up room a lovely treat. And whilst it is busy, it never feels crowded at the pools or restaurant. With the multiple pool and snack bar options you can always get a drink within 5min or less. But what really stands out is the team of staff. From the porter that takes your things to the room, the cleaning team, bar teams and reception that is always happy to help organise a taxi/car rental or trip. But the biggest thank you goes to the restaurant team. Our son has a severe peanut allergy and they have accommodated him with such warmth and kindness. Never once making him or us feel like he is too much trouble. And last but not least the managers who checks in regularly that all is OK with his allergy and our stay in general. Even speaking Afrikaans to us. This has been a much needed break and the beautiful island of Crete with its warm and lovely people made it perfect.

This beach front hotel is beautiful. Staff in reception are excellent. Staff in dining room and bars are very hardworking and pleasant. We are here now. Our room is 1230, a swim up room and is perfect. Cleaners work very hard in this hotel to keep it all spotless. Pools are great although you have to hunt for sunbeds as it is busy. We were informed by tui before departure that Aqualand slides were not finished by our arrival. Aqualand in at the rear of the resort grounds not near hotel pools. We were offered an additiona night in italian alacarte to compensate. We wont be using this as the food in dining room is excellent and prefer not to be tied to a set time. Loving eating on outside terrace or having choice of air conditioned dining also. We walked up to the aqualand slides with the kids but didnt use them as they were going to charge me 20 euro for each adult going in. We are all inclusive. Overall a fab relaxing holiday made great by the fantastic staff this hotel has who work very hard. Thank you to all the staff. Only let down is charge for slides.

Dimitris ,Eirini , Dora, Sara excellent reception team. The rooms are big and nice, and we even got our own pool outside our room after an upgrade that the receptionists surprised us with. Exqusite service! Nice breakfast.
