Albergo Palazzo Sant'Anna

The hotel is located in a small medieval town in Calabria called Gerace which, in itself, is worth a visit. It is situated on a plateau about 600 meters above sea level and its location and urban layout declare the defensive intent that the inhabitants had, moving away from the coast, an easy landing place for pirates. It is dominated by a castle dating back to the Byzantine period and, later, expanded by the Normans and Spanish. The town is a terrace on the Locri plain that appears to rest on the coast. The Albergo Sant'Anna is obtained from an enormous building, previously intended as a Monastery, which dominates the valley with breathtaking views. The rooms and services are dated and do not correspond to the four stars that are indicated. The furnishings imitate old furniture but appear heavy and inappropriate and the bathroom is furnished with pieces dating back to the seventies. Nevertheless, the hotel, located in the center of the town, is very comfortable, the beds are soft, the cleaning is very careful, the breakfast is good, the staff is very kind squared. The price is reasonable and adequate for the services you receive. There are parking difficulties for those arriving by car and the three available parking spaces are, foolishly, occupied by the managers of the hotel. During the stay it is not necessary to use the car. Overall a positive experience and an unexpected discovery.
