Came for Diwali, stayed for the hospitality. As a travelling mother, sometimes you are limited by your child’s schedule. This was not the case at The Durban Hotel. The owner, kitchen staff and driver service ensured we were looked after and accommodated, we went on multiple driving tours arranged by the owner, picked fruit from trees, spoke to locals & heard urban legends & ghost stories. The botanical garden & zoo is just a walk away, which my child loved. After my first visit to guyana, this is now my chosen hotel. It is in a residential street, not too far from the bustling city, giving you a home away from home feel, less clinical and corporate like the big chain hotels. I was well fed, watered, airconditioned and made to feel very welcome. The rooftop terrace has a stunning sunset view, check my video. The owner is a local man, who employs local people, you can see there is deep friendship between the staff, so you are really investing in Guyana when you stay here. They know all their neighbours and we sat and chatted when my child was napping. Definitely would return!
