I stayed for one night at The Chambers Hotel. Though it’s well maintained, it still looks dated but still comfortable enough. The receptionist was friendly enough to upgrade me to family room as my own room type was already full. Wifi is quite strong though it may lag sometimes when streaming videos. The toiletries are relatively sufficient with both shampoo/body soap combo and toilet paper (though there’s a bidet spray). I couldn’t find the hair dryer and was careful about opening drawers as some of them looked old and brittle. It would be good if the furniture could be maintained better. Location-wise, this is a very good location as it’s just opposite the Esplanade. It’s a good location for those who wants to mostly visit points of interest in historical George Town. I picked this location as I needed to take my ferry to Butterworth in the morning and this is just 10 minutes walk away. However, as it’s right next to the main road, there tends to be noisy cars passing by even during the wee hours. Convenience wise, there is a water dispenser in the hotel and there is also a 7-Eleven if you need stuff late at night.

So far worth for money staying at this hotel, with a British vibe.

The hotel costs more than 300 yuan a night, let’s take a look at their facilities! Let’s talk about the bed first, the spring mattress, as shown in Figures 8 and 9. The springs that can be seen with the naked eye are uneven and uneven, and there is only a yellow and dirty sheet on it. My outlook is completely ruined! The quilt was yellow and dirty, the pillow smelled bad, and there were stains on the pillow. It was so disgusting that I wanted to vomit! Look at the cabinet in his room, as shown in the picture! I called his boss, and the owner of this hotel said to me very fiercely: "You have been complaining since you moved in, and I have already given you the best room." I was actually arranging my itinerary in China. I placed an order for three nights, totaling over 1,000. Then I asked for a refund and Ctrip helped me negotiate with them many times to cancel the order. The boss said nothing and would not let me cancel. We had no choice, so we endured staying in this small hotel for three days. I traveled all the way abroad, so I endured staying in a room like this for three days! Unforgettable for life! Also, when I first arrived there to check in, the front desk actually charged me MYR 30 in tax! The passenger who checked in before me was charged MYR 6, and the passenger who checked in after me was charged MYR 3. He asked me for MYR 30! ! This was the first time I complained, and when I entered the room and saw such a scene, I complained again. My boss scolded me for constantly complaining! ! ! This kind of hotel should not appear on Ctrip! ! !

The hotel is located in Georgetown, that's where the positives end. Deposit upon arrival 50 ringit, deposit for iron 30, hair dryer 20 ringit. There are 2 sinks in the room, but only one has soap and it is glued to the sink. Extra soap RM5. There is no shampoo, no conditioner, no shower gel, no disposable toothbrushes. There are only two towels for two people. There is no talk of any 4 stars. There are two strange holes in the ceiling of the room. There is no sound insulation at all - cars are driving under the windows, and it feels like they are driving right in the room. On the floor there are some people cutting onions and preparing food in plastic containers. WiFi doesn't work. The TV does not work because there is no set-top box for it. The windows are large, dirty, and no daylight gets in. The only positive thing is that the room is big. I would not recommend this accommodation for a stay.

The bed creaked and was very old. There was a musty smell of wood when I opened the door. The wardrobe and bedside cabinets are all wood, very old wood. Like the one from decades ago... Only one photo of the hallway... The bedroom was not taken. All in all, don't choose this hotel, the experience is very bad. There is no elevator and it is tiring to carry luggage up and down. The door is locked with a key.

The location is superior, close to the tourist area. It is a little surprising that the hotel was remodeled by the former Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which has a nostalgic feeling. The family room is quite big, the two beds are 1.8 meters wide, very spacious. The fly in the ointment is that the switch bottle of the toilet shampoo is broken.

The soundproofing of the room is very poor. The sound of racing cars on the road can be clearly heard in the room. The quality of sleep is very poor. The facilities are very old so the setting is not reasonable as in a normal hotel.

There are no toiletries, not worthy of a 4-star hotel, and the smell is very strong, poor hygiene, taxes and fees, the most important thing is to use a key to open the door. I haven’t seen it for a long time. I don’t recommend it

The hotel is nicely located opposite a park but the front road is quite busy so not great for light sleepers. Also, not exactly in the heart of the town. The rooms are very nice, given the colonial style but everything is super worn, from furniture to tiles, towels & linen. I personally did not mind but if you’re into more lavish things, it’s a no go.. However, what was truly annoying is the service and overall experience. I arrived late as my visit to Georgetown was a last-minute decision, I asked whether there was a room available for two nights. The receptionist requested a passport and amount of money and that was it, I checked in. Then next day, I wake up by loud bangs on my door yelling “room service”, I opened all puzzled and was told by a different employee that it was past the check-out time so I immediately had to leave the room and pay (!). I explained that I had the room for 2 nights and that his colleague had already collected the payment upon check-in but he told me what I paid was only the city tax (what?) and I had to pay the rest, cash only of course, and was charged late check out (!). His explanation for all this mess was that the other receptionist does not speak good english. Mistakes can happen but how they’re handled is what makes a difference. As it was not the customer’s fault, we could equally assume responsibility -maybe at least waive the late check out fee as a gesture for an apology- but oh no, I was basically kicked out for a mistake that was not mine :) With that many lovely accommodation options in Georgetown, I would not be surprised if they go out of business in no time
