I checked in to my room on the night of Sunday Sept 8th and after unloading into the hotel, I had went out to town I usually check my hotel room for cleanliness ( bugs, etc ) the night i arrive but I didn't until the next morning n around 8:30 I immediately noticed a syringe upon the top of the closet I immediately went to the front desk and a young man was working, on his phone with ear buds in, he wouldn't acknowledge me so I spoke up a bit and explained the situation to him, to which he told me that housekeeping would clean it. This was  before 9am, I returned at about 12 and noticed this still hasn't been resolved, the syringe was still there. I went to speak with him again and no one was around, I even waited around 45-60 minutes to speak to someone and the only worker around was a housekeeper who didn't speak English. In the mean time I called and spoke to the Seveier county health department because I didn't really know what else to do.  They were helpful but didn't have much in their power to do. I finally spoke to the young man again and he told me around 1 that housekeeping was about to get to it. Then around 4 I had gotten back, the room was clean, spotless, except the needle had still been left there. I went and spoke to the front desk worker now on the clock and she immediately took action and removed this syringe ( that had some type of fluid in it) from the room. She gave me an email to speak with the general manager (who won't be in for days) I received a response from the general manager, but nothing of substance. It's essentially a generic ” Sorry you had this experience” response. Doubt they even read the email all the way through. Apologies for a ”misunderstanding”. There was no misunderstanding. There was a syringe in my hotel room and no one would do anything about it for like 8 hours. So, no I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Gatlinburg. It seems really nice and clean, and truly I don't blame them for a guest leaving a syringe in the room, it's just the lack of customer care and no urgency to fix the problem that's the issue here
