Insanely comfortable bed, not for the squeamish! Really difficult to review, at first view it is 0/5, it looked closed, no one answered the door, the car park was untidy, the surroundings were scruffy - but ......... the room was interesting nautical theme, cabin beds, some type of stuff on the side of the cabin bed (not sure what it was). But the room was warm, the beds were insanely comfortable, and there was wifi and a TV in the room. Some of the fixtures and fittings would shame the 70's, and badly needs a makeover. But you get what you pay for, and for cheap bed for the night, close to a bus stop that takes you into the heart of Newcastle in 10 minutes you cannot go wrong. So, on balance I would give this 3/5. It is after all a 2 star hotel so I wasn't expecting the Savoy.

This is without any shadow of a doubt the worst place I have stayed in the UK. The room could not have been more rundown if it tried. The daughter of the Bathroom had clearly had somebody punch it in the past and had been badly filled in. The toilet roll holder was broken. The heating went off and didn’t come back on early enough to warm the room up. The toilet seat was loose. The television didn’t work properly. There was staining on the wall in the room. There is nothing whatsoever to redeem this place. It needs a complete gutting and a complete refurbishment to stand any chance of being respectable.

The rooms seemed clean enough but there was an overpowering smell of stale smoke. There was a car park at the back of the hotel but as the hotel was situated in an industrial area I drove my family there and collected them in the morning

I was booked into this discgusting hotel by my company. On arrival i had to ring a number to get someone to let me in. The reception smells of damp. My room was even worse. The carpets was dirty and stained. The curtain had a white stain on it. The radiator was covered in brown stains. The window ledge paint was all cracked. In the bathroom the floor tile was loose causing a trip hazard. The toilet had a faulty valve and was running all night. The room had a sickly smell which i found out the next morning was inside the kettle there was thick black mold and the smell was horrendous. The tea cup was stuck to the saucer. I contacted soneone by phone and was told "theres no one there so nothing they could do" This hotel and i use the term loosely should be closed down or at the very least be inspected. I told the man on the phone the place is a disgrace. The room was booked for one week after that my company changed hotels. DO Not Stay There !!!!

The hotel looked derelict from the outside. The door was locked so we couldn't get it. I called customer services to ask someone to let me in. The very nice member of staff was losing the battle. Inside was worse than the outside! The room smelt of urine and cigarettes. There was thick black gooey stuff on the bedroon carpet and black mould in the bathroom. We explained that we couldn't stay there. Customer services, on the phone, agreed to cancel the booking. As I had given my bank details they still charged me, I will now have to fight to get my money back.

Isolated location but enjoyable stay. The hotel is in an isolated place but there is a sister pub/hotel nearby and many buses into town. The Metrocentre is nearby (a disappointment) and the Rowers has funky old fashioned ship-related decor with wooden panels and antiquated-style bathroom furnishings. The only drawback are the doors to each room which need to be pulled hard to close.
