Lovely setting amidst woodland - you can wander in the wild garden outside the walled area and even enjoy a cooling dip in the river! Tranquil view of the wooded glen from the window of my room (Peach). A bit of a squeeze to get round the huge bed in a small room, but the bathroom was absolutely excellent with bath as well as shower. You have breakfast in the kitchen with Sue around to chat, which is a pleasant homely way to start the day. The spiced baked porridge was a fragrant and filling option. Though the serving was large enough to keep me going on a long hill-walk, I'd have liked to be able to choose more than one item from the menu ie. porridge/fruit salad/muesli AND cooked breakfast. Covid safety requirements meant that I was given a rather tight time-slot (8 - 8.20) to eat and leave before the second sitting for the other room. To be fair, Sue seemed ok with me arriving before 8am so that I didn't have to bolt my breakfast! Good base for climbing Beinn Dearg and many other munros. For dinner you drive 10 miles to Ullapool, which is a completely different landscape and world.
