Amazing place with the most friendly owners I ever meet, very clean and really careful

I stayed in Saxon Lodge for three days (two nights) during my visit to Gansbaai City for the Shark Cage Diving. The most important fact that I would state about Saxon Lodge, that the moment you step a foot in and you are “home”. Caron and Dave have a talent to make you feel welcome; suddenly you are talking to Dave like an old friend, and were just catching up with what you guys have missed. You might want to hear about service; all what I can say, that everything you should expect in a lodge is there and more; rapped with outstanding and friendly environment.

We had originally set off from George for Agulhas but level 9 storms had swept the area and roads were being closed all over the Cape. After abandoning plans to get to Agulhas we tried to get to Hermanus a day early so headed to Stanford. The river which runs alongside the road was getting bigger and bigger the nearer we got to the coast and when we got to Stanford the Hermanus road had been closed so we made the decision to drive to Gansbaai instead. As we entered the town, the road we had just travelled along was in the process of being closed too. We set about trying to find somewhere to stay for the evening and were extremely lucky to stumble upon Saxon Lodge. After speaking with Dave the owner, he said I might be able to help you out. As two couples, we took his last vacancy which was a family room with 2 singles and a double. We got lucky as it was ideal for our needs. Comfortable, clean and providing everything we needed. They also gave us recommendations for places to eat but with no power throughout the area not many were open. Later that evening the power come back on providing us with WiFi and hot water for showers along with Netflix on the TV. G Our hosts were absolutely fantastic and so helpful when we found ourselves in the predicament that was. Even breakfast was great and very welcome the following morning. A great big thanks to Dave and Caron for providing us with not only a warm welcome but a lovely, comfortable and clean place to stay for the night. All I can say is if you ever need somewhere to stay in Gansbaai then Saxon Lodge is the place to go.

Caron and Dave were the best hosts ever! They were extremely hospitable and welcoming, and cooked the most amazing scrumptious food we've had in our 3 weeks stay😋 The rooms were also lovely, big and clean, and the location was superb overlooking the coast.

Welcoming and in the heart of Gansbaai. Overlooking the harbor, with best views. Can't imagine a better location if you want to visit Gansbaai. With the stunning views you get an established environment, clean and well maintained. Owners and staff are absolutely guest orientated and friendly. Breakfast 10/10. Will gladly return. The lodge puppy and cat are gorgeous!

We really enjoyed the time at Saxon Lodge. The owners are really nice and helpful. Delicious breakfast with an beautiful view. We spotted some whales from our table. We definitely come back by the next opportunity.
