The Elgin Norkhill - Heritage Resort and Spa

I booked to stay one night with my father. Their staff are so amazing they changed the room immediately as my father could not walk too many stairs. So I would like to say their staff and hospitality is top notch. The room was really nice however there was a sound that came from the kitchen exhaust which was like a generator. So until the kitchen shut at 10pm this noise was there. This is the only negative part of my stay. The other suggestion I have is to have some room to do exercises or games room or something. Its an amazing property. Loved it.

This is a heritage hotel, so you must not expect sparkling glass doors like Sofitel hotels and rain showers and fancy digitally operated rooms. What it provides instead is the history of the place, it's old grandeur and aura. Yes the lobby is a little startling with turquoise furniture, but think French decor and all is cheerful and bright. What is fabulous is the well experienced staff who anticipate and accomplish anything you could ever think of service-wise. It is great to watch the care in cleaning the premises, the landscaped garden and the variety of food and the manner in which it is served. When ccasionally there were only a few of us for dinner, we were served with utmost care and we could easily imagine ourselves as members of royalty for that dinner. Otherwise there was a good buffet spread. We had excellent service from the staff with special mention to Ashish and the other managers. The dining room overlooks the beautiful garden that in turn overlooks a FB stadium. Traffic can be messy if there is a match going on, and more so if a VIP chooses to attend. On another note the shower heads are weak and the bath tub is not easy to navigate, especially if you haven't lifted your foot more than 8" per step for a long period and now have to climb over a tub. :) As stated previously this is a heritage hotel.... expectations should be made with that in mind. The management and staff made up for all that the hotel construction left desired. We had a wonderful stay here and we sincerely appreciated all the plus points this hotel provided.

We had a wonderful luxurious experience during our stay in the norkhill. Overall ambience of the hotel gives you a royal feel and kudos to the entire staff and the management for giving us a memorable expreience and a wonderful stay at gangtok

The experience has been fantastic starting from reception, room ambience, room view of Kanchanjaga, fingerling food and serving. The mindset of hospitality has given us the lifetime memory. We stayed The Elgin in Gangtok during our Sikkim trip in early May. 1. Location: 20-25 mins walking from MG Market. Easily accesible by car. Great views of the Palzor football stadium. 2. Ambience/ Property: Immaculately maintained heritage property and gardens. We were offered room 404 which was both spacious and cozy. Beautiful decor. 3. Service/ Dining: Great service. Staff are similing and ever willing to oblige. Special mention to Sharmila (desk), Ashoke and RajKishore (dining) and the gardening/ cleaning staff. I would crib that dining menu was limited and pricey though, although good in taste and service. Especially the cookies, tea, cakes at tea service. 4. Accessibility: It is a heritage property so has no lifts/ elevators. One has to use the stairs. 4. BONUS: Hilton, the furry Samoyed was a treat and we loved to play with him. We also picked up the book "Kanchenjunga Whispers" by the owner. Rea Oberoi. On hindsight we should have stayed in The Elgin in Pelling and Darjeeling too.

A nice stay. However check out was horrendous with one lady handling the desk on her own n an an old calculator , it was painful watching this lady calculating my bill which went wrong twice. SHOCKING!! Please travellers my advice to u is check your bill before paying as u don’t get a printed invoice. They tell you they would email it later. The service was good n food was ok .
