Hotel Vijanera

Had an amazing stay! Hotel is centrally located to everything in Ribamonton al mar, very clean and tranquil. The staff was very friendly and attentive. You can see the owner very hands on with the day to day operations of the hotel, the best!

I stayed one night at the Hotel Vijanera while walking the Camino de Santiago. It was pretty obvious that at least for a weekend night, the hotel function is secondary to the large restaurant. When I arrived the staff were busy getting set up for dinner. It is evidently a local favourite. The very helpful receptionist/restaurant manager told me that they prepare a special local haggis-like dish on weekend nights in September which is a huge draw. I needed a reservation to get dinner and when I left at about 9.45pm the place was absolutely heaving. Surprisingly, the sound did not carry to the sleeping rooms. My room was fairly standard 3-star hotel. It was a reasonable size with a big comfortable bed, closet and a small desk and chair. Nothing fancy but good enough. The bathroom was old fashioned looking with the shower over a scarily slippery tub that I ended up lining with a hand towel for better grip. That aside everything was adequate and clean. The wifi was good with a strong and stable signal. My dinner in the restaurant was delicious and while not cheap was reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I was disappointed that breakfast didn’t start until 9.00am which was far too late for a Camino departure. The Hotel Vijanera is worth visiting for the quality of the restaurant and fine for a night or two’s stay.
