Aspa Studios - Urban Conscious Living

One of the best holidays ever. An amazing place in the heart of Funchal, very quiet and peaceful, well maintained and with attention to every detail, from the welcoming box of sweets to the everyday smiling face of the cleaning lady. Fully equipped kitchen. A unique terrace with an authentic style and a breathtaking view. The only thing that wasn't to our taste was the breakfast, despite the lady's efforts to prepare something different every day, it just wasn't our cup of tea. Strongly recommend

This was our second stay at ASPA, and it’s now officially our favourite place to stay. There’s something truly special about it — the design is stunning, full of personality, yet the atmosphere remains effortlessly cosy and welcoming, like a home. The staff is fantastic: warm, attentive, and proactive. Breakfast was even more delicious that we remembered, and the terrace is the perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring the city. We love the vibe, the thoughtful approach to sustainability, and the impeccable taste in every detail. We’re already counting down the days until our next visit. One thing worth mentioning: we came across some negative reviews and photos that don’t reflect our experience — or the beauty of this place. After chatting with the hotel manager, we learned that a few years ago, the hotel temporarily managed a nearby guesthouse. For a while, both properties shared the same listing, even though they were quite different. That guesthouse no longer belongs to the hotel, and although the businesses were separated, some outdated photos and reviews remain linked to this profile. Unfortunately, a few people still leave feedback for the former guesthouse here by mistake... So if you're planning a visit, don't let old reviews or photos mislead you — this hotel is truly something special.

This property was utterly beautiful, the staff were so welcoming and friendly and the place itself was gorgeous and so clean. Our bed was massive and we had a fabulous wet room. There was enough basics for you to cook, if required - pans, toaster, hob, kettle and caffè tier, as well as a fridge. Our cleaner was a wonderful character, who brought us fruit from her garden and the breakfast chef, accommodated us so well as vegans- baking vg cookies and providing us with the best breakfasts we’ve had in a hotel. The owners are currently building a restaurant, as well. The outdoor, rooftop garden was so relaxing with ‘out of these world’ views over the city skyline. The location was really convenient for shops, walking to the see front and eateries, as well as sites of interest. Our all time favourite mini break and we are planning to return next year.

We had a lovely stay at Aspa studios! Beautiful old house that has been refurbished to suit the traveller's needs, at the centre of Funchal! We stayed for a week with my kids. The studio was very confortable and was kept spotlessly clean and tidy by Isabella, who was so sweet with us all!!! Looking forward to coming back!

Hosts were very polite, rooftop was beautiful, breakfast was great!
