Madeira Regency Club

We stayed at this hotel for five nights in November 2024 and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is very modern, with contemporary rooms that are spacious and thoughtfully designed. Our room featured an excellent terrace where I could smoke - a great addition to the space. Adjacent to the reception area, there’s a small but a pretty looking 24-hour bar, where you can grab drinks, sandwiches, croissants, and other snacks anytime—a very convenient feature! The gym 24 hours and was well-equipped with good-quality machines - that was good. Across the road, the hotel also has another bar located next to the swimming pool. It served great drinks and had a lovely ambiance, perfect for unwinding. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was quite enjoyable with a good variety of options to start the day. The hotel’s location is fantastic. It’s surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants offering diverse cuisines, and the picturesque CR7 Square is just a 5-minute walk away. Additionally, there are two grocery stores/minimarts nearby, which added to the convenience. The staff were friendly, courteous, and always ready to help, which made our stay even more pleasant. Overall, this is a great hotel, and I would highly recommend.

This is an excellent hotel in a great location. It is among a handful that are not too far from the centre (on the edge of the "hotel district"), have a high-up view, and have direct access to the sea. Our room was spotless, the bed acceptable, and the view wonderful. I really enjoyed being able to see the port and to watch the ferry and cruise ships come in and out. The terrace/bar on the rooftop is a great feature, while the pool down by the sea (connected to the main hotel by a footbridge over the road) is good for proper swimming, and there is access to the sea from there. There's no beach, just steps down, but it's very unusual in this part of Funchal. It's not perfect. The lifts are poorly lit and the floor numbers on the buttons are in black so you have to peer carefully at them. Our room was also lacking lights. The wall behind the bed is black which doesn't help, and there's only one main downlighter in the room, plus a small light on the desk, a dim standard lamp, and fancy LED lights next to the bed which are too dim to read by. Additionally, the bathroom has only a short rail for towels, no shelf in the shower for bottles, and the hotel doesn't provide conditioner, body lotion, etc, just soap. The soap dispenser in the shower is a wall-mounted squeezy thing like you'd find in a Travelodge! Overall, the benefits greatly outweigh the drawbacks. We would definitely stay here again, and I would ask for the same room (804) because it's high enough to get a super view and the balcony is angled towards the port.

Lovely hotel with excellent staff. Lovely pool but even better easy sea access. Great breakfast Comfortable beds and really smart rooms.

We had a 2 week stay here in January 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. Our stay was on a bed and breakfast which suited us perfectly. The offerings were great with a good selection of fruit, cheeses, breads and lots of bakery treats including custard tarts. There was also a variety hot items and hot and cold drinks with even some sparkling wine for a breakfast bucks fizz. The Hotel has a very modern vibe in the public areas and the bedrooms. We had an Ocean View room on the fourth floor which was spacious and well appointed but did lack storage space. The roof top pool is a great area but can get a bit breezy, but is worth it for the spectacular views and is lovely when the sun shines. At the lower pool there is a bit of shelter from the winds and direct access to the sea. The location of the Hotel is ideal with the main promenade at the Cruise Terminal just a couple of minutes walk away. This gives easy access to the City Centre area. Going the other way it is uphill to the Lido area and the coastal walkway to Camara. Just uphill from the Hotel there is a path to the rear of the hotel which takes you near Moynihans Pub which sits on the corner. This street, Rua Imperatriz D Amelia, has lots of restaurants and bars and a food hall, Arraial da Imperatriz, which has outlets serving a wide variety of foods and also a bar with reasonably priced drinks. There are also TVs showing football etc. There is a couple of small convenience stores which stock essentials but are pricier than the larger supermarket chains. Housekeeping do a great job with keeping the bedrooms and public well presented and exceptional cleaning, with even a robot floor cleaner in the lobby area. Staff are friendly, efficient and unobtrusive in the breakfast room. This is a great hotel which provides a comfortable modern urban chic experience with the opportunity to relax around the pools when the weather allows.

Excellent stay and a good location. Two good pools, nice variety of food for breakfast. Friendly staff and clean rooms. We had an ocean view room on the third floor. More information on locations and procedures at check in would help as there was no information in the rooms. We didn’t use the gym or spa facilities.

We loved this place, relaxed vibe. Hotel was perfect in many ways, great ocean suite with fab views. Spacious room with very comfortable bed and linen. Lots of storage space, clean and quiet. Staff were welcoming. We will definitely return to this great location.
