Good place to stay

Family of three and We stayed for a week in July. We wanted a quiet hotel with nice pool area which is exactly what we got. It’s a very pleasant hotel, clean and friendly. However it’s not quite a 5 star, a good 4, it does need some upgrading and maintenance around the pool area. Although it’s a beautiful area to lie in and relax just not 5 star . The breakfast is excellent however I was a little annoyed that they didn’t have dairy free yogurt for the majority of our stay, my daughter is dairy free and I’d say the options were limited for all meals. We ate in the hotel quite a lot due to daughters social anxiety and although the food was very tasty it’s not really older child friendly, chicken nuggets , fish , burgers etc is fine occasionally but the adults menu was too ‘ adult’ even I struggled with the food sometimes and just wanted something simple. We don’t drink much but I’d say the wine wasn’t my taste. The evening entertainment was minimal but that suited us fine. Would have been nice to have a little shop on site although there is a supermarket not far from hotel. The Rooms were nice with a small kitchen. Lovely view from balcony although as it’s concrete you can’t see out when sitting. Rooms were reasonably quiet although if you had noisy neighbours it would be heard. The only niggle was the air conditioning, not cold enough for me. The public areas didn’t seem to have any so no relief from heat until you were in your room , even then it wasn’t very cold, that’s personal opinion though. Overall I’d recommend this hotel although if I were to return to Madeira I think I would like to try other hotels in a different area closer to restaurants.
