I was fully unprepared for the level of service provided by this hotel. Although due to amenities, the hotel only had 3 stars, in service it is a 5 star hotel. Most hotels around Lake Kawaguchi have a road in between the hotel and Mt. Fuji, but this hotel sits directly on the lake. At sunrise I was able to walk right up to the lakeshore. There’s a decorative pool on the outdoor terrace that enables you to take a photo of Mt. Fuji reflected in the water. The highlight of this hotel is the free flow hour in the foot bath area (wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks), the massage chairs, and the kaiseki dinner in the room with a view of Mt. Fuji. The onsen is great, but the outdoor onsen view is a bit too obstructed for my preference. The gift shop was a great touch as well. And I almost forgot to mention the breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing. Udon, soba, tempura, clams, sweet tofu, yogurt, many Japanese side dishes, as well as some western breakfast foods.
