Hotel Hirschen in Freiburg-Lehen

We stayed one night in Freiburg on our way to Burgundy and booked on short notice. There were quite a few hotels to choose from, but we picked Hotel Hirschen based on reviews highlighting how quiet it is—and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel exceeded expectations: exceptionally clean, comfortable room, friendly service, and a great on-site restaurant, which was perfect since we arrived late. Most hotels in Freiburg were on the expensive side that day, and Hirschen was slightly above average in price—but the value was excellent. For a small €25 upgrade, we moved from a first-floor room to a superior room on the third floor, which was well worth it. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and the setting outside among the trees was beautiful. The food was good—not outstanding by Bay Area standards, but still enjoyable. I ordered the Loup de Mer, which was solid, but the Beefsteak Tatar appetizer was phenomenal. It seems their strength may be in regional dishes like Frische Fleischküchle. My wife had the vegetable curry, which was fine, though not very memorable. The location is about a 15-minute drive from Freiburg’s Old Town (Münsterplatz area), so not walkable—but that wasn’t an issue for us. The staff was warm and welcoming, breakfast was excellent, and it was lovely to enjoy it outside on the porch. We’d gladly return and hope to stay longer next time to enjoy more amenities like the sauna and pool.

This hotel, by far, exceeded all expectations required by me. It is located in a quiet location of the city. Overall, the breakfast every day was superb.i can not fault anything about this place. During my week, stay here the air-conditioning was a must. I will definitely go back when I visit my son and his young family again.

Stayed here for two nights on our way south; easy to find on way from motorway, nice welcome and bright sunny room; very clean and spacious. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights, one in the smart main restaurant and one in the 'Gasthaus restaurant' which was equally as nice (same menu) but a bit more rustic. Food was good. We went into Freiburg centre by tram, very easy as tram stop is just about 500m down the road and we could buy our tickets from the machine on the tram, then stamp them. The only problem we had was when opening our hatchback in the parking it hit the beam across the back of the parking - no damamge done but take care. Suggest a room at the back of the hotel when you get the sun and it's very quiet.

We stay here once year in December as we meet friends for our yearly goose eating event. The stay's are always pleasant and staff is friendly and helpful. Getting into town is also easy. A small walk to the tram station and from there straight into the city. Breakfast has always been a charm and plenty of food available. Rooms are clean and have never looked bad. We will continue to stay here especially it is ideal after the big dinner ;-)

Lovely hotel near town ! We just spent a week at the hotel with the extended family . We had five rooms in different classes , 2 comfort , 1 superior and one junior suite that is really nice . The rooms are nice size and the balcony is great. Lovely pool with lounge chairs and hammocks . It was so hot that the pool was a lifesaver and the kids had a blast. The Private parking is also important when the hotel is full . The staff is amazing and really assists with any needs Thanks for a lovely week

we booked a nice room on the top floor, spacious enough for additional single bed. the hotel enjoys a good location not far from the highway, and offers a fantastic dinner and very good breakfast - all that for a fair price. good value. warmly recommended.
