Best Western Franklin Inn

I had booked a reservation for a trip with 2 of my friends for a dog show. We each have a small dog. I checked when I booked that they take dogs. We check in and start getting into our room and the front desk calls to say they see we have dogs, they don't take dogs. After some discussion, and the lady at the desk apologizing for any miscommunication, they said if I paid a deposit, I could stay. A $200 deposit. Refundable, as long as no damage. This room already had a big slice in the carpet and some trim that was just laid up against the wallboard. Then she said, oh, all 3 of you have dogs, so it's actually $400 deposit. After we thought about it awhile, we decided we would not stay. From the conversation and tone of her voice, they didn't want us anyway. I felt uncomfortable to stay in case their rules changed again and the deposit wasn't refundable! Will not stay at this Best Western ever.

Traveling with dogs can sometimes make it tough to find a place to stay. Despite our belief that our pups are people, hotels seem to disagree. Occasionally we will hear they take dogs only to learn there is a $125 per dog charge! Not so with the AmericInn by Marriott in Franklin Tennessee where the fee was $20 per dog (trust me my husband can make a much bigger mess) and the room was brand-spanking new. We were traveling back from 2 weeks in Florida and a loss of 2 hours in accident-related traffic on I-65 in Alabama caused us to ditch our plans for spending the night in So. IL. I wish we had the 2 hours back, but am so glad we found this hotel. Huge and well-appointed room. Better stocked kitchen than one of our FL rental houses - including a garbage disposal, almost full-sized fridge, microwave, burner, and dishwasher. Nicely furnished living room area and large bathroom will a great walk-in shower. Sadly we were zonked, but the tv looked great. And the bed was comfortable. My only concern - and this is a problem all over the south - is the bar area was packed. The hotel required masks and the people we say in the hallways had them on. The bar, not so much. Of course we just avoided the bar! Problem, for us solved. I would definitely recommend staying here if you have the need. Sadly our normal route timing back and forth makes it unlikely we will need to return (hear that Alabama traffic!) but we wouldn't hesitate if we had the need.

If you are staying here for the free breakfast, do not. It was non-existent for us the first morning at 8:30 so we never tried again. They were not keeping an eye on things. When I tried to ask where the refills were the employee could not speak English and had to get help. I don’t care that she couldn’t speak English but help her understand she needs to stay AHEAD of the crowd with refills. Jonathan’s next door is excellent. Room was clean and comfortable.

I had a good stay and everything was good except for they promised me a 1 check out and then the maids went crazy at 11:45 am…. And it was already so late how can you expect me to all of a sudden get out of the room when I was planning the 1 check out. Let people know the night before if you can’t!
