A very nice hotel, friendly service, tasteful decor. The room wasn't big but it was comfortable and clean. The sauna area is also very nicely decorated and clean. We enjoyed a very tasty meal in the hotel on both evenings, and the service was friendly. The breakfast is very varied (including no plastic packaging), sausage and bread from local suppliers, fresh fruit, etc. Many thanks for the great service, we felt very comfortable.

"Die Sonne" is a clear recommendation for a relaxing weekend trip. We had a wonderful three days. Particularly noteworthy are: - The attentive but never intrusive service. Starting with the reception at the reception, through the staff in the "Stube" to the SPA area. - The wonderful atmosphere in the old half-timbered walls, which have been carefully upgraded with modern accents. The breakfast area is particularly impressive - the breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired and convinced us with its clear focus on regional specialties and dishes. We would love to come back!

In search of a relaxing weekend, we ended up in the sun in Frankenberg again, for the third time. We were not happy, the hotel does not really live up to its expectations compared to hotels in the peer group - and this is primarily due to the most complex of all issues, namely the service. First of all: The sun is a very nice hotel, we booked a spa suite again, which is generously sized in terms of space and visually impressive in every respect. There is nothing to complain about here. However, the criticism otherwise outweighs the criticism: At check-in, there was no indication of the private parking garage, which is apparently included in the price of the suite. So my car is unnecessarily parked outside, which is no big deal - but: Couldn't they have given a qualified indication at check-in, especially when the service is paid for anyway? Justified and polite criticism of the service led to an equally overly polite, almost over-the-top service that no longer seemed natural, but constantly artificial. It may be well-intentioned to continually offer guests one or another free additional service, but if it has been rejected once, why do you have to keep trying? Criticism does not mean that you have to try at all costs to compensate for this by repeatedly rejecting free services. Criticism is meant to help you improve. The service needs to improve here, not the free service, which is not what I am concerned about. At breakfast, the service team clearly exceeded its limits: there were a lot of guests, and so the coffee we ordered arrived after what felt like a 20-minute wait with the comment that the coffee machine was so busy. Well, that is not a real surprise in the morning, it is only a surprise if you are surprised by it as a service worker. You can also solve the problem by getting another coffee machine. The fact that the buffet was only refilled hesitantly, that there were constantly empty spaces and that you could therefore hardly put your breakfast together in peace because you have to keep running - no problem, it fits the picture of unfortunately poor service. A quick look at the spa area: nice, but it could be better. The relaxation area was so overheated that we almost couldn't breathe. We had a spa suite, so we wanted to continue relaxing there, which we thought made more sense - it's just a mystery why there isn't a single spa item in the spa suite: there is a whirlpool, but not a single bath additive or anything like that. That makes absolutely no sense. Overall, you could just about give it three stars - but considering the considerable total price, more than two stars is not possible. From our point of view, the Sonne Frankenberg is unfortunately not recommended.

We arrived here late in the afternoon and still found the specially signposted free parking spaces for hotel guests right in front of the building. VERY NICE! (There is also a parking garage 100 meters away). Reception: very small, but very friendly service with transport to the room. We had a "sun suite" on the 2nd floor, consisting of a small living room with a couch, armchair and TV, as well as a small sideboard and a small desk, and - separated with a door - the bedroom. Everything is not very new, but functional. 2 points of criticism (1) The bathroom has 2 washbasins, a large shower cubicle and is very spacious. Very good. BUT the separate toilet is incredibly small and is only separated from the suite's hallway by a frosted glass door. Neither is really nice. (2) There is a small coffee machine on the sideboard in the living room - very nice. Unfortunately, the cable is too short, so you can't use this coffee machine in the place where it is. A longer cable, an extension cord or a higher socket is missing. So you have to take something off the sideboard every time and look for another place with a power connection. It is extremely quiet; we slept wonderfully! Culinary: both the Stuben and the Philip Soldan impressed us. In the PS there was a very interesting and delicious menu with matching wine accompaniment - with one exception (the South African...) the wines went perfectly with the courses served. The Stuben upstairs have a very limited menu, but it was perfectly adequate. Both restaurants provided first-class service. So all in all a very positive experience!

We stayed at this hotel around 8 years ago and were very satisfied. It is still a very nice hotel, very idyllically located. The bathroom was super clean... In the spa area you have everything you need. Very nice staff. The Michelin-starred restaurant was great, as was the wine selection. We will be back...

That was a wonderful weekend in December. Everything was perfect. I particularly like the really friendly staff at reception, in the SPA and in the restaurant. Very tasty dishes - the flower sprouts won me over! Very tasty surprise vegetables. There were also some nice little things - like the Advent stand with warm drinks or a nice little something for the guest - that made the stay even more pleasant and was very noticeable. Thank you very much & I'm looking forward to the next time.
