I had a really nice 3 night stay at the Mirante hotel, wish I'd stayed another night or two. I chose it for it's very handy location for the local bus station (the public transport was very easy to use to get to the Iguaçu Falls, airport and Itaipu dam), I hadn't actually realised what a nice hotel it was. Even a towel animal sculpture on the bed from Juliana the maid! Rooftop pool was lovely, everything was clean and tidy, breakfast was a fantastic buffet. There was also a games room (pool table, table tennis etc) though I didn't use it myself.
The only very slight downside was no filtered water for drinking, other than at breakfast, but not a big problem.

Very good location near the bus terminal: Bus 120 takes you directly to the Iguaçú Falls (approx. 1 EUR, 1 USD). Large hotel with a pool and a good breakfast buffet with cakes, hot dishes, juices, fruit, etc. Check-in is strictly enforced from 3 p.m., even if rooms are available. One negative aspect I found was the lack of a price list for the minibar.

I think this price is good value with breakfast included. Also, the hotel is located very close to the bus stop for the 120 line to Iguazu Falls and the airport, and the international bus to Argentina and Paraguay, so the location is perfect. If you want to go sightseeing at Iguazu Falls after checking out, you can leave your luggage without any problems. There are many restaurants to choose from if you go to the right from the hotel, cross the intersection, and turn right at the first alley.

I was unpleasantly surprised that there was only ONE piece of towel, one for each person... they don't provide a face towel as per the hotel rule... that is, for the pool, for showering, and for your face, THE ONE TOWEL FOR EVERYTHING. They don't provide shampoo or conditioner, just one small soap for two people.
It's clear that the hotel was more upmarket 20 years ago; it's still maintained, but it needs more love and better reception and general service... thank you.
