We had high hopes for our second visit to this venue, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. We had booked a room specifically so we could enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant and then relax with a few drinks. When we arrived, we checked in and asked when the kitchen closed. We were told 9 pm, so we made a reservation for 8:30 pm. After getting ready for dinner, we went downstairs—only to be told the kitchen had already closed. There was no prior warning or communication about this. No one came to our room to let us know, which would have been helpful, as we would have come down earlier if we had known. The staff’s response was casual, almost as if they couldn’t care less. The staff member’s attitude was disappointing, and we were left feeling ignored and frustrated. Instead of a relaxing evening, we were told that we could get a "take-out." Honestly, we could have stayed home for that. The entire experience was a letdown, especially considering how wonderful our first visit had been. The lack of consideration and poor service made what should have been a special night feel like a waste of both time and money. It’s such a shame to see a place that had once been so fantastic fall so short.

Stayed here as part of a shooting party and need to give a word of warning - I stayed in Room 6 which was terrible - tiny with a really soft old mattress and the bedroom and bathroom windows both had broken mechanisms meaning they would not shut and it was a cold night. Stained blind in the bathroom. Scriffy threadbare carpet in places and the smallest bathroom I have ever seen with a 10 inch step down into it. Tiny TV ( Ipad size) with no remote to even turn it on. I know its an old and characterful pub but I have stayed in many old pubs before. Had this room been charged to me at say £60 a night max B&B I could probably say I got what I paid for, but with dinner ( wasn't massively boozy) and B&B being charged to me a £250 that bill was really OTT. Breakfast was a buffet with "powdered " scrambled eggs and coffee was a flask of HOT water and Nescafe sachet's -I asked about a "proper" cup of coffee but was told it would take too long to turn on the coffee machine (?) I decided to skip it and get breakfast elsewhere. When I went to pay they would not take cash (or they thought I must not be trustworthy) - I thought that was still legal currency in the UK? Other guests in the party had a few decent rooms in the courtyard which had been refurbished and were really nice - just don't book Room 6 (and go elsewhere for breakfast unless it made to order and the coffee machine has had a long time to wake up)

First time we’ve visited The Greenman. We had a fab meal; the food was fantastic, especially the chicken breast. Extensive wine menu, friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. Thank you for a lovely evening! We will be back

We took my mother in law to The Greenman for lunch on a busy Saturday. The restaurant and bar were busy but we had a good choice of food and excellent service. Will definitely come again. I was very pleased to be able to have gluten-free fish and chips cooked especially for me.

Friendly, clean, excellent location and the best Sunday roast I have ever had. And I’ve eaten out a lot! Dog friendly and staff were welcoming. Good beer and I would highly recommend. We had the roast lamb and it was just exquisite. I’ve visited before and just had a drink but please please do eat here on a Sunday. You won’t be sorry. I’ve paid twice as much for food half as good.

Just had a beautiful Sunday Lunch at the Green man. The roast beef was out of this world. I believe it's from the local butcher in Fownhope. It was so tender and a very generous portion. My wife and I have never had better beel anywhere. We'll com e again. The Berisfords

Lovely pub, great decor. My friends ordered the crab linguine, but couldn't taste the crab at all, also felt the portion was too small for the price. (Verging on starter size) My fish was lovely and just enough. The table next to us complained they needed another side of vegetables because there just wasn't enough. So if your very hungry I would suggest order a few sides to compensate as the portions are pretty small. Polite service but extremely slow. Probably 30 minute wait for our desserts... !
