Our 11th visit to Casa Playa and our last. A new management company has taken over the resort and the prices have skyrocketed and the care of the building and customers has gone down. Asked for a lower floor as the elevator often is not working--yes--that happened--we are old and were on the 7th floor. Not a good thing. No hot water in the bathroom for four days--and the bathroom sink did not drain when brushing teeth. Remedy was to take the plug out -- but Grant did clean out something and we had hot water. We stayed 10 nights and never had a change of sheets. Yes, new towels every two days--finally after six nights I asked for sheets and changed my own!! We did receive a little back on the four days we were without water. The units need updating. A bit of paint does not do it. (You can put lipstick on a pig and you still have a pig) Now charging an $18 resort fee for use of the pool, a towel and a chair on the beach. It got cold and we started the heater only to have the smoke alarms go off as they were full of dust. Yes, Grant again cleaned them out--but that should have been generally done when fall arrived. We truly loved this place. Small, friendly, great beach that is not crowded and on a quiet end of the island. Yancy and Grant are under paid for what they have to do--and they are the nice ones!! Things have changed. Never once was there an apology for not having hot water, non working heater, walking 7 flights of staris - it's all about the money. Sad--but demand is there for small units on the island and they are rented out--although one couple complained and got a full refund and moved to another hotel. I did visit with other long time guests who feel the same way. Be nice--apologize--make it right when something does not work. Oh, and change the sheets after a week!
