It's right in the middle of the village. I pay for a single room with tolet, sink and was upgraded to a double room with tolet, sink and shower

No food was being served, despite the pamphlets showing the lovely meals you could (used to be able to) get; the owner said he had not been able to get staff for (I think) a year !!!
I did get to check in early, but was told the room had been prepared (I waited an hour at a bar having a beer - no-one else there, no lights on); The carpets had not been dealt with at all and there were bits of tissue and other 'stuff' all over (I wish I had kept my shoes on !!!)
I only discovered the shower didn't work (NO water through that tap) late in the day when I wanted to use it, giving up the idea and settling for use of the sink, whose tap DID work.
They really shouldn't take guests if that's what to expect !

I would highly recommend this place for a stop over, very nice hosts the room was clean and tidy and the price was great will be staying again

Made booking on the Internet, and when we arrived, we then had to pay cash as there was no card facility So a trip to the local cash point. There was no lighting to see your way around the corridors. The room was an absolute disappointment. It was so dated with ropey old curtains that did not keep the light out. The TV had no signal, and there was no heating in the room. This premises should be removed from all booking websites. Dreadful

To find an older place to stay, some of the choices must be a cave. Our room was in a newer extension (from 1981) but the lobby, pub and older rooms are from 1452. Definitely feels a little worn. I am happy we spent the night there but I don't think I would choose it for next time in Forest Row.

Where do I start I wish I had read the reviews… horrid!!! I real shame lovely area the owner could make this hotel old pub very welcoming.. especially when he has a new red clean Ferrari sitting outside. Dirty/dusty/smelly room attached photos say it all. My husband had a shower and his fit were dirty after walking on the carpet the picture of the soap dish was when we first looked no one had, had a dower yet, no normal tea bags kettle had old water in it. I know we could have complained but there was so many things to complain about and we were of to a family party and we didn’t won’t to get wound up.. Also a brochure in the room said complimentary breakfast no such thing… My daughter/ son in law and grandson room was just as dirty! So embarrassed as I booked it for all of us. This hotel should be looked in to.

Don’t usually write reviews but…….Honestly the most horrific, scariest stay I have ever had. It’s ******* on another level and honestly if someone said that to me, I’d laugh it off saying they are taking rubbish! Don’t believe me, stay a night. Good luck Pedro 💀

After reading the reviews I was slightly concerned, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. My room was rm 35 - comfy 4 poster bed. The bathroom was a retro orange, the water was hot. Tea/coffee/milk/biscuits, clean towels + toiletries provided. Rm 36 smelled of smoke + TV wasn't working so I had the better room but co-traveller said other than that it was fine, bed comfy and it was quiet. Some lights in the corridor didn't work - just used torch on phone. Fire escape was not locked but would prefer that than getting locked in a burning building. Other accommodation near was more than double the price per night (we paid £150 for 2 x ensuite doubles) - so content to enjoy, not perfection but the chance to stay in a querky listed building. Just check in early as online can double book rooms!
