Starting with the positives, this hotel is located in a beautiful, tranquil but touristy spot. Getting there is a bit tricky with narrow roads. There is free parking just outside, and the stream runs through the property. There is a pool, which we did not use, as it was sept, and a terrasse by the stream which was lovely. Just outside the gate is the « village » as it is. 5ere was a cheerful welcome at check in and a helpful orientation. They also assisted with restaurant reservations as hotel restaurant was closed. Heads up that one can not actually visit the source, as the départment has closed the path partway up. The location still is tranquil, but to avoid potential disappointment… However, we paid almost double the lowest priced room for an upgrade. The room we had was spacious, and included a mini fridge, which was nice. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a decent shower. However, the room overlooked the parking lot! Disappointing to say the least, especially given the premium room price. Would expect a premium room. There was a small stream to the left, which was pleasant to hear, but the view was mainly of cars. Even worse, was the fact that someone at the desk periodically took smoke breaks directly below our room, so we had to periodically close our window. Again, disappointing. The final straw was when they tried to charge for breakfast on checkout. We were asked on check in if we would be having breakfast, said, no and assumed that was that. No, it was not, they tried to charge, and while they did remove it, were a bit combative - are you sure? Yes, we are sure, and they should be too, as I would assume they collect room numbers at breakfast, which did not include ours!

I spent 7 nights here as part of an art tour. The hotel oozes character. My room on the second floor had a lovely view overlooking the garden with a stream running through the grounds and overlooked by towering mountains. No photos did this view justice. The room was clean, spacious and filled with light. I had a couple of requests which were attended to promptly. My hair drier was broken and they replaced this. Also, I asked for a non slip mat for the shower and they were able to provide me with one. There was ample choice with the breakfast. The woman who worked in the breakfast room was quite "prickly" at times. Everyone else who worked there was always super friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located within the village however it is at the end of a laneway so it is very quiet. I never heard a sound at night. You will not be disappointed if you book this hotel

The hotel is tucked away amongst trees. The beautiful garden is cross crossed by lively clear mill races and has pool and spa tub. The rooms are charming with a lovely view . The food and wines are excellent, facilitated by the knowledgeable and very hospitable maitre d’hote, Fabia. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Sipping a chilled rose of an evening in the garden watching the sun light slip down the huge white cliffs was a great experience.

Oasis in busy village Very friendly hotel, great pool and good breakfast. Our room was bit small and dark (even having paid for upgrade) but excellent restaurant with v knowledgeable waitress. Menu quite small but excellent flavours etc. very different to standard Provence fare

This was our second stay at this lovely hotel. We had stayed here in 2014, and hoped that it would still be up to the standard set back then. We needn't have worried - if anything, the service has improved. The staff members were all friendly and helpful, in particular Romain, who appeared to be on the premises 24 hours/day.

Most things up until checkout were lovely. Roman was very friendly and helpful. The property is adorably charming. It’s a great hotel in the little water village. My husband and I enjoyed our time. The rooms are simple. It’s quiet. The food at the restaurant for dinner was very good. The pool was nice. Breakfast was not fresh and the coffees were from a machine. We didn’t know the breakfast cost extra so that surprised us at the end. I’d recommend to confirm that with future guests on check in since it’s a b&b style hotel. Thomas said awful things to us at checkout which smeared the end of our experience unfortunately. Everyone else working there was very kind. I’m sad to have to leave this review but Thomas really ruined it at the end by yelling.

Excellent hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful, efficient and kind--they were truly exceptional. The grounds are very special---many places to sit quietly with beautiful surroundings. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. I would highly recommend the Hotel du Poete!

I am travelling alone and felt at home immediately: the owner, the staff, just everybody was lovely. The room overlooking the gardens was superb! So, the myth that single travellers get lousy rooms is indeed a myth at Hotel du Poete. The Wifi was a bit complicated - but I am sure that this is something they will look into. Because they want to please their customers :-)
