My husband and I stayed at the carlton hotel in folkstone for three nights, initially it didn't look too bad, just dark and a bit run down, but after settling into our room
we began to notice what the other reviewers had said, their were marks on the pillows although the cases were clean, there were marks on the wallpaper of which I couldn't tell you
what they were, the windows were filthy inside and out, the carpet was filthy and didn't look like it had ever been vacuumed, the shower curtain was suppose to be white it was filthy, the underneath of the taps were filthy. and the skirting boards had a thick layer of dust on them.
The bed was hard and lumpy with springs sticking out, the list goes on.
Breakfast was continental with one bowl of tin fruit, dry bread, tea/coffee yogurt, and a few other bits.
Two of the staff regularly stood just outside the main entrance smoking, which was horrific when walking past,
the hotel was full of traditional features so it was such a shame to see it so run down.
The rooms had been devided by thin ply I think, you could hear every movement, we were woken up in the early hours of the morning by three people shouting at each other
and having a huge row, nothing was done or said about it.
I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone, I can put up with a hotel needing updating slightly but this was extream and the dust and dirt was even worse.
The leas gardens were wonderful, absolutely huge and well worth a visit,
