Super 8 by Wyndham, Florida City/Homestead/Everglades

This hotel can be regarded as a budget hotel, the facilities are a bit old, and then in the city center, the location is OK, there are many restaurants and supermarkets around.

Finding a place to stay can be difficult but after stumbling across this little business I am proud to say I will never have to search for a hotel in homestead again. To the super affordable prices, to the close proximity of the Keys, and not to mention Justin who made sure our stay there was not only comfortable but enjoyable as well. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time enjoying the amenities that were offered, and there were a lot! There’s a koi pond, treehouse, plenty of outside seating with lights, plus plenty of others which you can see on their website. Taking a walk outside makes it feel as if you’re in your own backyard and even after such a short stay I wanted to stay longer. Basically to wrap it up I am thrilled to share with you guys my experience and recommend to any other folk looking for a place to stay that this is the place to do so. -Joseph&Mandy

The only way to go to key west is really much better than I thought. I wanted to retire before, but after I got there, I had to stay one more night. We drove to various keys every day. At this time, various hotels are very Very expensive, but very affordable here! 👍👍👍

Best Western Gateway to the Keys

This is located within short walking distance to a Pollo Tropical, McDonalds, Wendy’s, & a decently accommodated Gas Station. A short (less than 10min drive) to Walgreens (with anything you might need that you forgot at home), Starbucks, Denny’s Diner and other gas stations. They have a pool which I didn’t get to see up close, because of how busy I was while in town and for my short stay, but looked nice from the lobby. The front lobby conveniently has an ATM with a $2.99 fee & looks clean and well kept. The young woman working the front desk was SUPER Helpful and knowledgeable of the area and very sweet. This hotel also offers breakfast. Despite the a/c being a little loud and dated it kept the room nice and cold without skipping a beat which is a major plus for Being in Florida (if you’re going to the keys you better expect to stay in dated places as that’s how the nostalgia is in this beautiful part of FL is) Unlike the front lobby, the room was questionable regarding its sanitation. If you are like me, you might stay up and not get a lot of sleep due to the lack of cleanliness, as I kept everything in my suit case and didn’t have a lot of faith in how sanitary the counters or commonly used areas were. Upon entry I noticed an odd smudge on the ceiling and over on the wall by the bed. I did not intend on touching the ceiling and walls anyway so I shrugged it off. Upon going to the bathroom,I noticed an odd yellow substance smeared on the bathroom door - maybe cheese? I’m unsure. Then upon Lifting the toilet lid, found a dark hair, about an inch long, fine, I can wipe that off and avoid sitting. But then when I took a shower found more of the same, similar looking, hair on the shower wall along with an unidentifiable smudge in a dripping formation next to them, did my best to not touch the walls and barely touch the curtains and really hesitated using the towel after seeing this. I do not have inch long & dark hair, anywhere on my body, nor did I have any guests with me. Next to the trash can in the bathroom was a dark substance splashed on the wall from someone throwing something away and hitting the wall, clearly not me as i had only thrown tissues, & remaining unused travel sized shampoo bottles with clear liquids away in that trash can. At night I went to turn the lamp on and couldn’t help but notice another glob of who knows what on the stand of the lamp. I Kept my house slippers on as the floors look swept but not cleaned (as in mopped or swiffered.) If you are like me you will probably lose some sleep and choose to sleep in your long pants and long sleeved shirts as the cleanliness of the bathroom was very off putting and made me hesitant to use anything else in the room. If you do not care about these things then you will utterly enjoy your stay and move on to the next destination on your trip. If it wasn’t for the cleanliness of the room I’d say this hotel is a solid 4 despite the paint peeling in the corners of the walls & baseboards (to be expected as this is truly a dated part of Florida.) I would say it’s almost as if only the trash was taken out, sheets were changed and new towels were added to the room before I came to stay and, maybe if I was lucky, a quick spray and wipe down of anything someone could touch. I personally don’t think I would choose this hotel again and I think I’d rather pay a little extra for the one next to it for the peace of mind for cleanliness. Ironically house keeping will check to see if you have left before the checkout time (noon)

The hotel is very clean, the price is very affordable, the travel time is considered cost-effective, suitable for flying to Miami at night and going to the next day to go to Key West on the eve of the night, you can stay for one night
