Easy access from airport to Fortezza metro. 2 mins walk to the sisters. Immaculate peaceful and welcoming. Yes it was /is a convent. The place says that. It’s Italy. Lovely warm cosy room with fab AC/ heating. Both. Great shower and bathroom Huge calm peaceful garden. Good coffee and breakfast provided. Note. In Italy they gave an Italian breakfast. Although this is a beautiful hotel, quaint and nice rooms, that is where it stops. Whilst travelling around Europe on business for a few months, I spent 2 nights at this hotel. Yes, check in staff are warm and welcoming, and the rooms are nice and quaint… however, for both days I was there, bitterly cold showers with no hot water in the morning. And, after changing rooms. Checking out I complained, and the check out clerk just wanted to take my money. No discount, or compensation. And, he said, I will let the General Manager know tomorrow. Frankly, very poor indeed. Yes, hot water problems do happen - but not twice over 2 days, and then getting rubbish customer service. Why would I ever stay at this hotel again! Probably won’t unless it is my only option… lets see if the Hotel sees this review and makes it up!!!

The sink was a problem in the room. It is full with water and we couldn’t fix it. The hotel is like a dormitary. Location and breakfast is perfect. Also they take too much tax.

A fabulous hotel, from the excellent staff to the wonderful facilities and the location. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Particularly Roberto, Ariana and Simone. The spa is excellent, and although we only used the pool, it was a must after walking in the Florence heat in August! The hotel is a small distance from the old city, but we’d recommend the “members club”, which costs €10 per day per adult (over age 12). The mini trolley only takes 15 minutes-ish into town, and is a great way to get a feel for the city. Pick ups can be arranged at reception. Breakfast was good, and we had one of the adjoining apartments for a family of four. All the rooms and facilities are modern and clean, even if the shower is a bit quirky! Overall we would highly recommend Hotel Grifone. There is a sister hotel to the west of the old town where you are welcome to rest, use WiFi etc etc. Highly recommended.

What a friendly and clean hotel! Convenient, excellent continental breakfast (even included eggs!), and superb staff to help with everything. Miguele, at the front desk was especially helpful with our entire 3 day stay. Parking was a big bonus, not usually included in this price range.

We visited Hu Camping because it had the services we wanted whilst being really close to Florence. Check In could not have gone any easier. Really polite staff. We asked to upgrade our mobile home but there were none available until the end of the week. So we didn't bother. We drive to our home and noticed it was clean and well maintained. There were people gardening, cleaning all the time. Got to the mobile home and things were not ideal, utensils missing and a ladder to the bunk bed. We went to reception to ask about the missing things and the majority of what we needed was sent to us within an hour with huge apologies. It was an older mobile home but it was clean and ready for us to put our feet up. Having two bathrooms was really good with a family of 5. It was 37°C outside and the air conditioning worked well. We took a fan with us so it moved the air around a bit more. But we left it on during the day, with the interior doors open and the rooms were nice and cool. We used the restaurant, the service was really good and they were busy. It's a good idea to book. We had booked for 9pm and a couple were ahead of us in the queue when we arrived, they asked for a table and were told they'd have to wait 45 minutes. The food was tasty and fresh. Not overly expensive, considering some places nearby or other European cities. We used both pools, the kids one was a little cold but my boys (8, 13, 15) didn't care. Around the pool was clean and well maintained, there was enough shade if needed and a lovely olive grove section away from the pool for lots of shade. The pool bar was well equipped and the staff were friendly. The main pool was busy but people still had space to throw a ball or jump in. It's not there for doing lengths. The onsite shop was fine, it's not big, so we used it when we had to, otherwise there was a decent sized Coop not too far from the site (driving distance). The other bits were good, bike hire (although get there early), laundry services were great, the volleyball/football pitch needs updating but it was fine. The location is just outside the city. There was a bus to the centre from the campsite but we didn't use it. We drove and parked in underground parking in the city. All very easy. I had preconceptions about how it was going to be but I was really surprised with how good it was. And the staff were really polite and helpful. I would happily go back to visit it again.

The great hotel is overrated at 4 stars. Only the lobby was 4 stars. I feel there it should be between two and three stars. It is a functional out of town hotel that serves group tourism or those travelling with their own cars.. They are no restaurants close to the hotel Hindi hotel restaurant itself offered no vegetarian choices beyond the ministrone soup. Proposed hotel they was no electric kettle to make tea. The two elevators are far too insufficient for the guest load and we had to wait several minutes just go up.

The reception Staff were particularly good. The room was OK. We decided to eat in the `Restaurant`. The Waitress was not really interested. We waited and waited for just the menu to arrive. We ordered our food which came relatively quickly, the soup that was listed did not resemble any soup we have ever experienced. The ice cream which I could not eat was disgusting. The Waitress had disappeared we could not discus this issue at all. Having travelled nearly 600 kilometers that day in the heat, we could not wait because we were so tired. In the morning when we went to settle the bill, we found it had already been taken and the Receptionist did not want to understand and offered us two beers, small compensation.

We recently stayed here for 4 days with our two kids and loved every bit of it. The rooms were spacious and super comfy, especially the beds – we all slept like logs! The breakfast was a hit with lots of choices for everyone, even our picky eaters. What really made our stay special was how friendly the staff was. They were always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. Manager Alessandro was always keen to check on our well being and comfort. In short, this place is awesome for families. Great rooms, yummy breakfast, and super nice people. We’re definitely coming back!

Excellent
GGuest UserWe stayed for 3 nights in April, the Hotel was clean, convenient, quiet and comfortable. The staff were lovely without exception. Everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff and room service were friendly and helpful making us feel very welcome. Our room was at the rear of the hotel (204) with a balcony which was a pleasant surprise. The view was nothing special as it overlooked the rear of other properties but it was nice and comfortable and very quite. There is a Spa that you can book for your exclusive use. This is sometimes included in your deal but otherwise is 25 euros each for 50 minutes and well worth it. The view from the roof top is superb and you can get a drink from the reception bar and take it up there or even take your own bottle of wine! Breakfast centres mainly on pastries, fruits and meats. There is a “hot” option of eggs and bacon but is only ever warm at best. However, the pastries are very nice and more than enough available. It also has to be the most convenient trip I have ever experienced from Airport to hotel! Exit the airport turn left and walk to the tram stop about a minute away. Take the T2 tram to UNITA and get off at Rosselli. That’s it!, it takes about 20 minutes and when the t4am leave you will be facing the hotel. It cost 1.50 euros each. You can buy the tickets on the tram platform but I would visit the shop Hudson as others have mentioned on here and get them there as there can be a queue to get your ticket on the platform. Don’t forget to slide it into the machine to validate it when you board. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk for the “Dome” in the centre and about 25 minutes to the bridges on the river. There are some excellent restaurants such as Casa Ciabattini and Osteria Vecchio Cancellous within 6/7 minute walk both of which I would highly recommend. I would not hesitate to return.
GGuest UserWe spent 3 night in 3 different cities on our trip. This was our favorite hotel on our trip. Beds were super comfy and the place was very clean. The staff went above and beyond for us as we asked for recommendations for restaurants and they made reservations for us and sent us text messages once they were confirmed. The best part about this place is the courtyard. Gorgeous. We would grab a drink at the bar and then go out to the courtyard to enjoy it. There is a hot tub out there as well but we did not use it. Bartenders were all very friendly. The location is perfect. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle but more than close enough to walk to everything, which we did. No need for public transportation to get to and from the hotel. High recommend!
Ttung tung shamDuring my recent trip to Florence, I had the pleasure of staying at the Anglo American Hotel. Overall, my experience at this hotel was delightful, and I would gladly recommend it to fellow travelers.
First and foremost, the location of the Anglo American Hotel is superb. Situated in the heart of Florence, it offers easy access to the city's major attractions, including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and Uffizi Gallery. The hotel's central location made it convenient for me to explore the city on foot and truly immerse myself in its rich history and culture.
The hotel itself has a charming and elegant ambiance. The interior is tastefully decorated, combining classic elements with modern touches. The common areas, such as the lobby and lounge, are inviting and provide a comfortable space to relax after a day of sightseeing.
The staff at the Anglo American Hotel deserves special praise. From the moment I arrived, they were friendly, professional, and attentive. They were always ready to assist with any queries or requests I had, and their local knowledge and recommendations were invaluable in helping me navigate the city and discover hidden gems.
My room at the hotel was spacious and well-appointed. The bed was comfortable, and the room amenities, including a flat-screen TV and minibar, met my expectations. The cleanliness and tidiness of the room were maintained throughout my stay, thanks to the diligent housekeeping staff.
While the hotel does not have an on-site restaurant, it does offer a delicious breakfast buffet each morning. The breakfast spread was varied and catered to different tastes and dietary preferences. I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked pastries and the selection of local cheeses and cured meats.
One minor drawback was the absence of a fitness center or spa facilities within the hotel. However, the staff was helpful in providing information about nearby fitness centers and wellness options, ensuring that guests have access to these amenities if desired.
In summary, my stay at the Anglo American Hotel Florence was a delightful experience. The prime location, attentive staff, and comfortable accommodations contributed to a memorable visit to this beautiful city. While the absence of certain amenities was a minor drawback, it did not significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the hotel. I would recommend the Anglo American Hotel to travelers seeking a centrally located, well-appointed hotel with a charming ambiance in Florence.
AAnuradhaBreakfast can be much better. It is an expensive hotel but their breakfast buffet doesn't have fresh fruit, poor cheese selection and they also don't serve multi grain bread.
For some reason, i felt like the staff were serving the Europeans faster.
Also, at the hotel reception, the staff will give you incorrect information regarding the city tours and hotels. Please be careful
GGuest UserThe hotel couldn’t be better. Participants have their own apartment which comes with a fully equipped kitchen. Even if you are on your own, pop for a one bedroom for a extra room. This is especially nice for a long stay. I had a room on the ground level. It opened up to the patio which has a nice sitting area and tables and chairs. I often took my lunch out there, or a drink after a hard day touring in historic Florence. People do smoke out there, but not very much. The rooms are clean, clean, clean and there is housekeeping service every three days. Linens are bright white. The property is located a block away from the T2 Tram Line which gets to the historic area in about 10 minutes. I would stay here again.
GGuest UserThis hotel was brilliant. My friend and I came to celebrate her 44th and can I say the hotel is NOT full of students as some reviews have said, there all a huge range of demographics and nationalities. The hotel itself is so cute and well decorated. Very kitsch. The staff were SUPERB! I feel bad that I can’t remember their names but I do remember Francesca from reception. What a girl! She helped us get dinner reservations, what bars to go to and had a wicked humour! From the pool bar - Candi. So chatty and sweet! Breakfast was brilliant. Not sure what some people are complaining about? You’re not going to get a 100000 calorie American breakfast. This is Europe. We had scrabbled eggs on toast each morning. There are sausages and bacon if you want. The. We had some fruit and yogurt, followed by a pain au chocolate or a croissant and jam. I usually had a bread and cheese as well! More than enough to get you going. Lavazza coffee too. We went to go out in our first Friday and as we came down there was a DJ and a free bar with popcorn, pretzels, and crisps as the hotel is very inclusive and community focused. The hotel is also very environmentally aware so to read reviews about people moaning that their towels and bedding weren’t changed- please! Nobody and I mean nobody fainted their towels and sheets every day in our own houses. It’s once or twice a week. The damage to the environment and the increased costs to hotel rooms are as a direct result of people like YOU. My only little niggle was that there was a fabulous Nespresso machine but the coffee was not filled daily, however a quick call to reception and we had some brought to the room. We didn’t use the pool due to some bad weather and plans in the day but we sat up there having a drink and people had clearly been swimming so I don’t think that’s an issue either. The view from the pool bar is UNREAL. I literally mean it’s spectacular. They have games such as table tennis and fusball and swings in the entrance which my friend and I had a go on after a tipsy evening. I’m won’t talk about how amazing Florence is as a city as that’s a whole other review. But this hotel is fantastic as long as you’re fun and are open to a new experience
GGuest UserI loved this quirky old hotel. It is old fashioned in the best possible sense; very well situated close to the train station, the Duomo and the centre of Florence - so a perfect location for shopping and sightseeing. The rooms could do with some refurbishment but are air conditioned, kept very clean, and everything works. Doubles are generous in size, single rooms are small. Breakfast is continental with cheese, ham, muesli, croissants, cake, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and detox water. Most importantly, the staff here were unfailingly courteous and helpful. They really could not do enough for us, from letting me borrow an adapter, to recommending excursions, booking taxis, and accommodating a late check out. There are trendier, more modern hotels in the area, but that is reflected in the price - you get what you pay for.
JJodence CLocation just opposite from station. Service is great and fast. However, my room to lift is too far. There is a lot of lifts but there is only one lifts u can get to lobby. Also there is a small step make me fall down when I reach there , I think hotel need to take alert into it .
GGuest UserHotel very well located with air conditioning. This is very friendly staff, I let us use the microwave to warm the meal. For the price we pay is the best possible. Breakfast buffet and varied. Recommended 100%.
GGuest UserThe transportation is very convenient. It is very close to the attractions. The room is quite big and clean. It feels very simple. Arrived late that day. The top floor of the house. The building is more generous. The next day I saw the front desk and the service was very warm
