Hotel Alinari is in a very convenient location just steps from Santa Maria Novella Station and only a short walk to the Central Market and numerous reasonably priced restaurants. It’s location might be off putting to some people as there is no huge lighted sign on the street telling you it’s there. You have to look for a much smaller sign in the street and elk into the ground level courtyard to see that it’s on the 4th floor. Take the elevator up to 4 but you might have to wait for it a bit. Patience pays off though as the proprietor and all of his staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is substantial enough served by more friendly employees. The location is perfect, it's all very close to a few steps. The staff is very available and kind to feel like at home. The only difficulty can be a staircase to get to the lift, but with the baggage they help you. My room was a little small but with all the comforts, only the light in the bathroom is a little low you can't see well to stay, but with chromotherapy effects. I'll return 😊

I stayed at the San Giorgio for two nights with my girlfriend, as we were in town for her birthday. I was already positively impressed when I booked, because the price was great for such a central hotel; obviously, however, a low price can be a double-edged sword, so when we got there (following a 3-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station) I was a little wary of potential issues with the place – lo and behold, my misgivings were almost entirely baseless. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, the place isn't high-end: it's a little too dark and heavy on curtains/draperies, the toilet in our room was too close to the wall so that it couldn't be opened fully, and the Wi-Fi on the fourth floor was dodgy at timea. What we found, on the other hand, was a very tight-knit staff that was always kind and available, even before our check-in and after our check-out. Moreover, our bed was remade and our towels were replaced every morning, something I don't take for granted in a 3-star hotel. Finally, the 7:30 breakfast was nothing too fancy but did its job very well, especially thanks to the waiters who were always ready to greet newcomers and to offer coffee. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised (I know I sound condescending but my praise is genuine) and I would definitely come back if I were in town for a short period of time.

This was my first hostel experience on my own and it was soooo good! I felt very safe, staff super friendly, the room and common areas had everything you could ever need! Locker in the room was huge... I had enough space to keep all my things safe, but you need to bring your own padlock (maybe the hostel could make that clear on the booking? although I was prepared, another lady in the room was not ;)). Location great, very close to station (but far enough away that it wasn't a problem....), very close to the sites, restaurants and bars. I would happily return to an Ostello Bello! Grazie

We couldn't have asked for a better location; close to the train station and an easy walk to all the sights we wanted to visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful, with a little balcony, clean and spacious enough. The bathroom was modern, even though the hotel is charming and older. The breakfast was very good, with pastries, croissants, breads, hard boiled eggs, cheese, meats, fruit, cereals, yogurt and excellent coffee. The breakfast room was lovely with a balcony with flowers. After checking out, we were able to store our luggage for the day. We would return again!!

I arrived with my septuagenarian parents on April 27 for a week-long stay. The hotel provided us with the right room classification on arrival, but I was concerned that the suite was single bathroom instead of two and the closet space was not optimal for our needs. Annamaria, Victoria and Samuele stand out as front office staff who listened and acted swiftly to help address our request for help and resolved the issue the next day. That was the first wow moment of our stay. I also recommend the breakfast (came with our reservation package) and you should take advantage of the Rooftop Bar, the view of the Duomo and across the city 360 degress is suberb. After 10+ visits to Florence, this hotel has become my new preferred location and I anticipate returning here in the years to come.

The room has a sense of design. Although it is not very big, it is very warm and comfortable. The only problem with this room type is that it is on the half floor and needs to go down a very narrow staircase. There are still several steps in the room. Big boxes are very unfriendly! The breakfast is still very good, you can sit outside and feel it.

Mosquitos! Two out of the three nights we were at this hotel we had mosquitos in our room. We got bit multiple times and let the front the desk know at check out and she said that there was a mosquito machine to keep them out on the wardrobe, which we didn’t have or see. At check in they did not notify us of this mosquito machine or mention it in our welcome letter that they give you about key codes etc. They were unwilling to compensate and acted like we were supposed to know that we were going to be dealing with mosquitos in a hotel room? Obviously if you have a mosquito machine in your rooms, you have a bug problem!! I know Italy is filled with old buildings but bugs shouldn’t be in a hotel period, regardless. Also, there is no front desk staff at night, so if anything happens you are screwed. The room is very bare bones and you have to sit sideways on the toilet because it’s so small, ( but this isn’t too uncommon in Europe). I would not recommend this mosquito motel to anyone. Wish we spent a little more for a better place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are nice and clean. Good quality bed linens and towels. The hotel has several sitting areas and an outside terrace. There is a bar for drinks and a lovely breakfast area with a very nice breakfast. All the staff were lovely and helpful except for one person Joya. Our adult son was with us and he was asking for directions from one of the employees. He went around the counter where the employee was showing him the computer screen . Joya came over and actually slapped my son’s back and kind of pushed him. This is really bad news for hotel management. My son is a patient person and not aggressive. Another person may have had a different attitude. As a woman, I would have had a few choice words. Today physical intimidation is unacceptable for all persons. I will not return to this hotel as this made my husband, son and I very uncomfortable.
