Mauritius is really a beautiful country where you can feel free and at ease. Choose this hotel over thousands of times. Environment: very good Health: Not bad Service: It's really bad. I can't speak English and I said I don't understand. My husband was not allowed to eat at dinner because he didn't bring long pants. He said he was disheveled. It's understandable because basically French people asked the guest room to order food and directly said no, and takeout was also not allowed. Overall, have a great time traveling and remember to bring some pants and a suit.

We began our honeymoon at your beautiful resort, and we are truly grateful for the unforgettable moments we experienced, largely thanks to Babrta, Ash and kanen they made our stay special, and we appreciate thier efforts in arranging our daily schedule—it was incredibly helpful for this significant occasion. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff, for their exceptional hospitality.

The management and housekeeping, restaurant, spa and gym teams were exceptionally helpful, courteous and performed above and beyond throughout my stay. The grounds directly on the Indian Ocean are vast but the public areas were never crowded. I enjoyed my villa with a private pool. I also learned a great deal about Ayurvedic health. Delighted that I ordered a spa package for total pampering!

A tale of two hotels. We stayed first at the Four Seasons for five nights - separate review and then came on to Maradiva. Having read the reviews for the Maradiva we knew we were coming to somewhere special. Arrival We were welcomed and shown to a golf buggy for a tour of the resort. No welcome drink but a fleeting greeting with the Manager. A young lady with beautifully manicured nails took us on a very swift tour of the resort. There was no warmth just cold professionalism. We were driven also to see the celebrity garden where all their famous clients have planted a tree. It was clear we were supposed to be impressed but that kind of thing does not interest nor impress us. As it is, the trees are planted to close together and it looks more like a pet cemetery than anything else. The Room Our room was beautiful inside. It can’t be faulted. The outside sitting area was beautiful too however the pool area had no view and looked onto the backs of all the other villas. A small fence would have perhaps allowed it to feel more enclosed. The small plunge pool is beautiful. You can however hear your neighbours and the building work as they are all close by. We were unfortunate and happened to have vocal neighbours as well as the building work. See photos. Had we been staying longer we would have asked for a note to be left with the room next door. The light floods the bedroom early on as the door between the bathroom and the bedroom allows light through. So take a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper. The Restaurants Breakfast: The best. A superb breakfast. A La carte and beautifully cooked. Evening Meals We were half board but planned to use the credit as we do in every hotel we stay in. On the first night we ate in the main restaurant and had a nice meal. At the end of the meal the new Food & Beverages Manager came up to us and announced there had been a mistake and we shouldn’t have been able to choose the food we had eaten as we are on half board. Quietly my husband explained to him that there wasn’t an issue as this is easily resolved by deducting the credit from the half board. The manager however felt the need to emphasise once again that we really shouldn’t have been able to eat what we ate but it was the hotels mistake and tomorrow would be given a different menu. Because he spoken such a loud voice, he got the attention of all the tables around us, which was most embarrassing. No matter how much we emphasised that this wasn’t a problem. This new manager felt the need to let us know that the board menu is different and we were only half board. Never have we been so humiliated in a hotel of this standard, in all our years of travel. Very poor and very unprofessional . having stayed in another hotels on the West Coast of Mauritius, on the return from the meal we considered leaving the hotel and moving elsewhere. From that evening afterwards we chose to eat down at the beach where there was no issue in simply adding to the half boar

My husband and I stayed at Maradiva in late October for five nights. Overall, the resort is exceptional. We stayed in a garden view villa that was only a few steps from the beach. Both the villa and beach were so beautiful that it was difficult to choose where to spend our time! As many other reviewers have noted, the service at Maradiva is top notch and everyone we interacted with was very nice and helpful. Our favorite part of our stay was spending afternoons at the beach with the beach manager, Veen, and his crew who were all very friendly and taught us a lot about the history of the island. Our butler, Kanen, was always accessible and eager to help. He made several restaurant reservations for us (Cilantro was the standout, in our opinion). The people who work at Maradiva make each guest feel special and like every request can be accommodated. The resort itself is gorgeous and we were fortunate to have perfect weather. The resort also offers several complimentary water activities and has a weekly/monthly event calendar for guests. Our advice would be to reach out to the concierge for a copy of the event calendar and water sport menu before arrival so you can plan and pack ahead. In fact, the resort may want to consider sending the event calendar to guests before their arrival. There is more to do at Maradiva than may be apparent from the website. All in all, this was one of the nicest properties we have visited and we really enjoyed our time there.

My second visit to Maradiva (rooms 208/209) since October 24th, this time with my friends. The peace and tranquility that this hotel offers is almost perfect. Thanks to the renovation, there are no more creaking floors in the villas. The newly laid stone-look tiles enhance the rooms. The rooms with pool and spacious terrace invite you to linger. Very well done! The room service was, as on my first visit, excellent! Shanenaz, the chambermaid, gave me a wonderful holiday for the second time. The attention to detail, loving conversations and always kind words round off the whole thing perfectly. She is not just a chambermaid, she sees and notices when something is wrong. It is nice to have such employees who really care about the guest with their heart, that deserves my respect! Without Shanenaz I would certainly not have come back here, as unfortunately a lot went wrong during my first stay. Dinner in the various restaurants (Japanese, Indian, on the beach or in the room, with the varied half-board menu is excellent and varied. If you don't find anything on the half-board menu, you can of course choose from the menu. Wine drinkers will definitely get their money's worth in this hotel - top class! There is a selection of the world's best wines from France, Italy, Africa and many more. Now to the SPA, we tested it extensively with various treatments and enjoyed it very much. The prices are very high but you get what you pay for. The team in the SPA always tries to give you wonderful hours of relaxation and peace. Keep it up! And last but not least, a great innovation is the butler service. Dinesh does an excellent job here and takes care of reservations in the various restaurants, bookings for the boathouse, for example, and much more... in my opinion with a lot of warmth and commitment. For my part, I can say: Dear team, apart from the breakfast service, the hotel is well run, family-run and you feel very well looked after here! We will definitely be back soon best regards from Alex, Angi & Philip

Our family stayed here early July. First in a family villa and then in an exclusive villa. The villas were beautifully renovated, beds really comfortable and loved the indoor/outdoor feel with the covered terraces. Villas with a terrace facing west/north-west, and being located on the upper part of the resort closest to the main pool, will definitely catch the most sun this time of year, and at the same time be the most sheltered from the wind typically blowing from the south east. We were a bit apprehensive about visiting Mauritius during their winter, and although not hot, we found the temperatures perfect for a combination of beach/pool and excursions. Probably between 23 and 27C during the day. Heated pools were a must for us. Be aware that the two bedrooms of the family villas are not directly connected, but both open onto the pool terrace. We preferred the exclusive villas, even though this meant rollaway beds for the children in the living room. The rollaway beds fit behind the sofa, so we still had a fully functioning living room and plenty of space. The level of personal service at this resort is unparalleled; it feels less like a typical resort and more like being a cherished guest in a private retreat. The ambience is serene. Extremely relaxing, with an amazing beach and wonderful sunsets, but could definitely be too quiet for some. People seem to stay mostly in their villas, and there is little entertainment. Children are very welcome, and have lots of space to roam around - including a games room by the reception and tennis courts with an area with table tennis and bike rental, but we did not see any children in the kids club while we were there. Maradiva is perfectly located for excursions though. Easy access to roads leading up and down the coast, as well as inland. And being at the southern end of Flic en Flac beach, there are plenty of possibilities to walk out of the hotel for some change of atmosphere and other restaurants. However, the food at Maradiva sets the bar high!
