When we got to the hotel it was most upsetting it wasn't at all a good impression, there were better hotels seen on the way to the Hotel Dei Pini. The hotel was rundown, weeds, overgrown grass, and the reception area wasn't well presented, worn sofas, torn in places. It just wasn't a very good impression. The Manager, however, Luca, was most obliging and quick to issue the rooms and have the cases taken to the bedrooms. We had booked a twin room with a balcony because I was sharing with my brother as all the single rooms had been taken. We did ask for a larger room if possible. However, we had a room with twin beds, pushed together (which we specifically did not want) and bunk beds (which we did not want), and a small bathroom, only one chair to sit on, nowhere to put our suitcases on, no hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom, an awful hairdryer that took ages to dry hair, no refreshments, no kettle, no fridge, no instructions, no telephone instructions on how to get hold of reception in an emergency, there was a television and nothing else. We had a balcony which opened out onto the sun terrace, where other hotel clients sat and drank – and had easy access to our room, there was no security. We therefore were unable to leave the window open. If you wanted air conditioning, you had to pay an additional €10 per day. The lift was temperamental. We did ask to be moved but were told it was not possible. For us the room was cramped, had no privacy, and presented a security issue. The bar was a small area, which limited stock, and also served as the breakfast servery. For breakfast there was a selection of croissants, limited cereal (I would not call it cornflakes), and toast (toaster for 4 toasts at a time only for 48 people!). There was some sort of canned fruit, and low-grade yogurts, butter, and 2 kinds of jams, and honey. Tea in flasks, and a coffee vending machine. Any coffee or tea taken outside of breakfast had to be paid for. No cooked breakfast, no boiled eggs, no scrambled eggs, no bacon. Just some processed ham, and small slivers of edam cheese. For lunch the menu was the same every day: side-dish of gem lettuce and tomato shards, followed by either pasta (same pasta every day), or soup, followed by a main such as chicken escalope with gravy, or small cod (you normally give to your cat) and either peas or French beans or chips followed by a dessert such as a little bit of ice cream, or panna cotta or tiramisu very limited and a lot of the hotel guests were unable to eat the food that was provided. In my opinion the chef should have been fired, it was absolutely not what one would expect from a three-star hotel. The crockery was basic the cups were tiny little cubs and the cutlery, well the spoons for the soup we're actually serving spoons! However, the staff, especially Rosa and Luca, were absolutely first class and did try their best, had not been told of food allergies or requests and has to stick to the limited menu a

Arrived with Shearings Leger coach tour. Took 1 and half days to get here and same back. But Hotel Dei Pini was very welcoming. Room good for 3 star. Yes hair dryer needs updating. Then down for dinner. Then things went down hill. I was swade by previous reviews. But meals just weren't to those standards especially the puddings and lack of veg with the main course struck me. By the second day was eating at the local restaurants which I'm glad to say are a 7mins walk into town. But don't forget everything is closed from 11am till 5pm mostly. Had a small rebellion about food shortly after and food at the hotel did improve 👌. Lounge sofas need new covers( one was ripped) but they all looked tired. Staff are friendly but I personally felt the pursestrings had been tightened and it showed. Never saw sun loungers or packed lunches( which would have been welcomed). My room was 109 it smelt fusty but as I don't have a good sense of smell it wasn't a problem for me. Thank you to the staff of the hotel and the coach drivers Jim and Graham. You really did a fantastic job.

Well this was a bad experience. Everything was run down. High price drinks. Small selection for included breakfast. Tiny portion of processed food for main meal. No kettle in room. Beds abit on the small side and very minimal. How is this place a three star place I have no idea

I have just been on a Solo Leger holiday staying at this hotel as a base going out to view the wonerful area around including Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento and more. The hotel team were very welcoming, spoke good English and made my stay a great experience. They try very hard to please getting me extra non-alcoholic beer in and helping with a local pharmacy info. Bed was comfortable and I slept well every night which I don't do at home. Catering food for 3* hotel coach groups is never fantastic but had extra if needed, veggie choice was given and was always sufficient. Luca, Rosa and the team became friends for a short while and it was great. Thank you.

Having just returned from a stay at this hotel . The hotel is basic but clean and comfortable . The staff are very welcoming and happy to help,. My room was a single ,it was clean and comfortable all that I needed as I was out all day .The food is plain, I requested a vegan menu and was offered simple meals my only issue it would have been nice to see more traditional Italian fare offered and maybe a bigger portion . Having read other reviews this seems to be the theme that the meals could be improved , breakfast was a continental offering again fresh fruit rather than what seemed to be tinned fruit salad would have been nice but breads and pastries were available .Overall I had a pleasant stay I had a comfortable bed ,a clean room, a hot shower and maybe not the most extensive food choice but I was catered for

Wonderful staff make this hotel a joy. Rooms are OK, food is multi-coursed and interesting, restaurant is comfortable, bar is small practical and clearly priced, and outside seating areas are very pleasant - but it was the staff that made it. Luca, Rosa, Andrea and the rest of the gang looked after us superbly and we're very grateful for that. Had a great trip overall too with excellent drivers Wendy and Craig adding to the fun. A brilliant Shearings trip. Best wishes all.

I travelled here on a Shearlings coach tour. I was apprehensive having read some negative reviews specifically the food. The hotel was clean and good example of a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was typically continental. Good choice of items. Dinner was started with a tomato salad with sour dough bread and butter. Each day there was a choice of 2 items of starters. Typically soup or pasta. Both freshly cooked and very tasty. Dinner was a choice of 2 things. Meat or fish with a freshly cooked vegetable. Sweets were random but lovely eg profiteroles, viennetta ,tiramisu. Lovely staff and all in all a great experience.

A cozy and very clean hotel with an exceptionally nice staff. Very good food; all you can eat breakfast and a varied multi-course dinner. My family and I have certain food alergies which our turist agency forgot to forward to the hotel. The staff made us a custom meal on the spot, appologised (even though there was no need to do so) and prepared all meals gluten free for us.

Had a lovely week in the Dei Pini. Andrea, Rosa, Luca and all other staff are fantastic. They couldn’t do enough for us, and were always happy to help us. The entire hotel was spottlesly clean. Our room was comfortable and quiet, lovely! Dinner was very reasonably priced, and each meal was very nice indeed. Many other hotels in Fiuggi could learn a thing or two from this one. A ten minute walk from the main areas with bars and cafes, and a supermarket nearby up the hill. I’d happily stay here again, and expect I will next year. Thanks to all the staff, you really made the stay.
