Morocco has been the top of my bucket list for over 30 years. During that time, I obviously dreamt about the details. Riad Jaouhara was those dreams come to life. The location is perfect-close to the the square where taxis pick up and drop off for reliable transporation to and from the riad but deep enough into the Medina that you feel as if you've stepped into a different time. The "new" Medina is right outside your door and the "old" Medina is an easy walk (even carrying shopping bags!). The riad itself is so beautiful. It's been lovingly restored from the courtyard to the rooms to the rooftop. The bed was so comfortable and the heat was so warm (we were there during December, so it was chilly outside); it was the best sleep we got throughout our whole trip. Breakfast is delicious. Note: there are a lot of stairs, so if you have mobility issues, ask for a room on the ground level. The people are kind and helpful. Any questions you have or arrangements you need made, they are eager to help. We were there for five days and truly felt like we were at home.

Riad Jaouhara is a gem. An old merchants’ home with years of history, it has been lovingly restored in traditional style to what would have been its former glory. The tile work, the caved wooden doors, the beautiful patio complete with plunge pool and resident birds all add to the tranquility one feels on stepping from the hustle and bustle at the edge of the Medina into a bye gone era. The smiling staff are friendly and caring…nothing is too much trouble. Traditional breakfast is served at tables scattered around the patio..delicious. Beds are firm and comfortable and there is a bar fridge in the room. We stayed downstairs in a room opening directly on to the patio with a separate seating area. Wifi is not the best, but neither was the phone signal…probably blocked by very dense walls. However I noted pigeons had boxes on the rooftop so perhaps the merchant who owned the house had a more functional communication system than the present day. The view from the rooftop is spectacular. THANK YOU for making our stay memorable.

This Riad is beautiful and peaceful even though you are just a few steps from the main entry to the Medina. Great restaurants just outside the door and they helped us find a súper guide to learn more about Morocco

We really enjoyed our stay here, all the staff are lovely and speak good English and will help you out where they can. Our room was very generous in size and the court yard was our balcony which was gorgeous. The roof terrace overlooks the whole of old Fes. This Riad is just next to the Blue gate and the start of the souks (street markets) this was ideal . I would definitely recommend staying at Riad Jaouhara. 😁

Very nice riad, very well located in the medina, close to the busy streets and the blue gate, very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is the lack of hot water. Maybe because we were on the top floor! We really enjoyed this stay despite the rain (who could have believed that in Fes)

Very pleasant stay at Riad Jaouhara! Peaceful place, beautiful lush garden, small refreshing pool. Simplicity and relaxation guaranteed. The welcome is pleasant, discreet and simple. The staff is attentive and always available. The Riad is very clean and extremely well located in the Medina Fès-el-Bali: in the immediate vicinity of the two main alleys of the medina (Tala'a Kbira and Tala'a Sghira) and 2 minutes from the emblematic Porte Bleue de Fez (Bab Boujeloud), which allows you to quickly take a taxi to reach the new town or outside the town. We stayed 4 nights at the Riad, couple stay. Do not serve alcohol (like almost all establishments in the Medina), but you can bring your own alcoholic drinks to drink in the garden. The breakfast is plentiful and entirely local. Presence of a rooftop but limited access (you must ask for the key at reception). You can contact the Riad to send you a taxi to the airport (15€, normal rate).

Warm and sincere welcome from the whole team. The plane arrived at night and the taxi was waiting for us as planned, and we were also waiting for us when we arrived at the hotel. Riad very well located. A real moment of relaxation in a cocoon protected from the noise of the medina. From the (hearty) breakfast, we are comfortable in this little garden. The swimming pool is small but it has the merit of existing in the middle of the medina. Valuable advice for walking around Fez.
