At a 4-star campsite like Camping Village Laguna Blu in Sardinia, you would think you can't go wrong. Far from it, you can. At first glance, everything seems wonderful: the beach is within walking distance, a nature reserve - a lagoon - borders the area, Alghero is not far, comfortable bungalows, an attractive pool area, a fitness room, a restaurant, a supermarket... everything is there, which promises a relaxing holiday. Really? The fun begins at exactly 2 a.m. – for others: the Touch on The Beach discotheque really turns things up. Although it is a full 900 meters away, thanks to the adjacent lagoon the sound is transmitted almost without loss. Apparently almost nothing can wake me up, but I'm happy to admit: I've been taught otherwise. At first you cover your ears, but it's like a helpless gesture because the noise goes through your bones. Ear plugs? Oh, how sweet. Yes, you get inventive: put on headphones and distract yourself with podcasts, wander around the campsite at night and skip f lat stones across the water of the lagoon, call the carabinieri and shine in broken Italian. In the end you bury your head under the pillow again, the piercing bass feels like chest compressions, a feeling of powerlessness arises and finally anger. Anger in every direction, but especially anger at yourself for not having done enough research when choosing your vacation spot. Isn't that exactly what you want on vacation? At around six in the morning, calm returns. It's cool, finally sleep. You wake up shortly before noon: it's hot, you're still stuck in your limbs from the sleepless nights, you have a headache during breakfast, everything is progressing slowly. How about a trip? Experience the beauty of Sardinia? No, better not today. And be careful: your nerves are on edge and patience is precious. One wrong word and an unnecessary quarrel might ruin also the day after the night. In short: sleep is not everything, but without sleep everything is nothing. It's true: Baia Holiday - the operator of the Camping Village Laguna Blu - can't help the unspeakable noise that comes from the nearby discotheque Touch on The Beach. However, the quality of a service provider is nowhere more evident than in the question of how problems are dealt with. This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. When we asked to speak to the campsite manager about our problem, the reception staff assured us that he would get in touch as soon as possible. He was never seen. The - quite well-intentioned - help-yourself instruction to call the carabinieri at night came from one of the night guards. It was from this that we found out where the noise was coming from and - more importantly - that it wouldn't stop. So we contacted Baia Holiday directly by phone, asking them to either accommodate us at one of the group's other two campsites in Sardinia, or at least to reimburse us pro rata for the remaining nights. The reply via email took two whole days - or should I say nights - to arrive

One the 12th August we arrived and checked in to our 3 bed mobile home which I must also mention is probably the worst mobile home I have stayed in with regards to the facilities offered in the main double bedroom there was one small shelf above the bed to store 2 adults clothes not one draw or anywhere to hang your clothes, after having to leave our clothes in the suitcase we had a walk around the park to have a look around, we walked down to the lake which doesn't look anything like the pictures, we then went to the restaurant area where there was a small playpark and an area for teenagers there was an ant infested bench so we couldn't sit down 2 dirty football tables with no balls and a table tennis table broken in half with no net, we then decided not to stay on the park as we were so very disappointed we decided to go out to eat, we returned at about 10pm and this is when the misery really began. We arrived back at the park and could hear what can only be described as really loud concert/rave music we didn't understand where this was coming from but soon discovered it was from the Amphitheatre located just next to the park, we arrived at our mobile home and when we went inside the music was so loud that the caravan was vibrating, we went to bed thinking its probably just a weekend thing and will maybe stop about at 12pm, how wrong we were that evening we got no sleep the music carried on until 6.30am, we didn't complain in the morning as thought it was maybe a one off but unfortunately the same happened again the next night, loud vibrating music until 6am, we went to reception the next day to complain but they just didn't seem interested and said they were trying everything and it was a new thing which I beg to differ as this Amphitheatre has been open for over a year the lady on reception was very abrupt and wasn't interested in the fact we had no sleep over the last 2 days and was very unsympathetic. We bought ear plugs to see if this would help but unfortunately myself my husband and 2 children could still hear the music and feel the caravan vibrating every night until 6am for the rest of our stay. This completely ruined our holiday we had several trips planned but had to cancel most as we were just so exhausted and couldn't get up early to get out for the day. We were never told and wasn't made aware of this before our arrival and maybe given the option to change parks, we paid around £212 per night for this accommodation and feel we have been well and truly ripped off and lied to and also to add insult they still made us pay the Eco tax when we left at another cost of £150 even though I find ridiculous due to the noise pollution that they dare to charge this. Also if you have teenagers be aware you have to pay extra for WIFI unless you stand right next to the restaurant but they also turn this off as soon as the restaurant closes!! This is such a shame the only good points about the park is the pool and the location.

We have just returned from a family holiday in one of the Villatents at this very typical Italian site. The site was beautifully clean and the plots very well laid out with plenty of sun and shade. The pool area fun and vibrant atmosphere and the restaurant staff very attentive and really excellent food quality (that we don't always expect from a campsite!) Yes, you have to wear (cotton) hats in the pool, which is very typical of Italian campsites but actually once you overcome the initial concept they are actually quite nice and cooling to swim in. The pool is the same depth all over but there is a shallow fun /paddle /water spray area for toddlers. Otherwise non swimmers will need to keep their armbands on - but surely this is a wise thing anyway? The shop is extremely well stocked with lots of fresh fruit, veg and deli (meats and pastry) counters. The prices are very competitive so you don't feel the need to go to a bigger supermarket. OK. A couple of slight negatives - neither of which spoilt our holiday as both were easily overcome. 1. The private beach opposite the site is not an especially nice ***** of the beach and although reserved for the sole use of Laguna Blu customers, no one uses it as they charge €22 euros a day for use of a parasol and two beds. No half day charges. We arrived one day at 4pm and asked if we could have a half day rate, but they said not because it was a local bank holiday... There was not a soul using the beds all day, so they got not a penny! Crazy. Meanwhile the beach bar next door (literally 25 feet away) did beds for €15 a day and €7 a half-day so we just went there each time which was actually a much more pleasant part of the cove anyway. 2. There are only a couple of parasols with beds by the pool. These again sit empty most of the time as even though you are paying to stay at the site you have to pay €15 a day to use them. Plenty of space round the poolside though, on grass, not to need them. From a booking point of view, Camping Lux and Laguna Blu don't seem to communicate well. We were told by Camping Lux that towel hire was not possible and that we had to buy 2 sets of bed sheets for the double beds. Neither were true. The double bed in the Villatent was made up of two separate beds but does come with a double bed sheet set so there is no need to order x2 sets as we were advised. Towel packs can be hired from reception. One pack of 3 towels (one small, medium & large) can be hired for €11 per week. The bus from the campsite to Alghero is €1 per person and well worth the trip. Alghero is beautiful and buzzing, especially in the evenings. The beach bus (to the picture postcard beaches) is a bit more at €8 person. As there were 7 of us we thought this a bit much, so hired a private boat for 3day instead and visited them all. A fabulous day out. Boat rental ranges from €175 —€400 a day depending on the size of the boat. Ours took up to 10 people for €400. No regrets. Fabulous. Would happily return

Check in was an ordeal! Some of the staff at reception (in the white shirts) are inefficient. I spent 20 mins checking in, I had to spell the names of all the 6 guests (which they already had on their system). He filled in a lot of paperwork and was very slow. It was 32degrees and I had 3 small kids with me - it was an unpleasant experience. They also held one passport which I believe is illegal in Europe. I was given no information about the campsite, no map, nothing! The guys around reception wearing the green T-shirts were very friendly and they took us and our luggage to our cabin on a golf buggy. I returned to reception twice over the course of our 11 day stay to rent a bike for the day. It took them 20mins to fill in all the paperwork again just to rent a basic bike! Totally inefficient and their operating procedures are paper based and quite dated. The pool play area with the slides and bucket is brilliant, the kids loved it. However, what I found bizarre is that there was no shallow pool for small kids to stand in. My 8 yr old could just about stand in the pool. I had my 5 and 6yr olds in armbands and a life jacket. A campsite designed for families with no shallow pool???? I was hugely disappointed with the animation… It said on the website there was kids club for 5-8yr old. There was little or no information about the day’s itinerary and it was all very disorganised. I found I had to approach them daily to include my children in the activities. Some days they did entertainment for adults, I don’t believe it’s necessary to entertain adults, only kids. They don’t seem to cater for English speaking guests and there were many English speaking guests at the pool daily. The night entertainment for kids started at 9.30 some nights which again I found bizarre. Perhaps it’s Italian culture for kids to stay up late at night? The pizza in the restaurant was excellent, we got a few takeaways and it was lovely. Also, the fresh bread rolls in the on-site market were really good. We went to reception asking for bus tickets to go to the beach. They gave us the €1 tickets. We stood at the bus stop for 20mins in the blistering heat only to be told when the bus arrived that we needed specific facemasks (proper PPE ones), we had the wrong bus tickets and we could only pay cash on the bus €8 return pps. Pretty basic information that reception could have shared. It seemed a-lot of ppl staying at the campsite had a similar experience to ours for their first trip to the beach. I met an Irish family who were new on the campsite and they were all excited about their first trip to the beach with their €1 tickets and no masks. I was able to advise them on what they needed so they didn’t need to go through what we did. Basic information from reception could avoid a lot families from this stressful experience. Overall the campsite is fine, the reception staff need to be more on their game, be more efficient and give clear information if they want returning guest

Bins overflowing in low season is not great - shower rooms very small and not very practical. The setting on the lagoon is otherwise very nice, and the proximity to Alghero (not necessarily walking but a short drive) makes this a worthy option for a stay. Clear plus point - surprisingly good pizza. Also a very reasonably priced camp site.

The village is really beautiful, very large, clean and the guys who work there are really nice. The location is very convenient, close to the airport and a few km from Alghero. The only negative thing is the sea... we came with the children and we chose this village because it is convenient with the beach service but unfortunately the sea is full of sea**** and you can't swim. Let's say that it would be better if they didn't include the beach service and anyone who doesn't come by car or other means is penalized. If we knew that the sea was like this we would definitely have opted for another village. Luckily we rented a car and were able to get around and go to the seaside, but these were not our plans... I recommend choosing this village for those who intend to travel around every day for the whole day, but given the prices it is not I don't care if it's worth it...

You would think that you can't go wrong at a 4-star campsite like the Laguna Blu. But that's not the case: the fun starts at two o'clock sharp in the morning - for others, the Touch on The Beach discotheque really gets going. Yes, you get inventive: put on headphones and distract yourself with podcasts, wander around the campsite at night and skip stones across the water of the lagoon, call the Carabinieri and shine in broken Italian. In the end, you bury your head under the pillow again, the piercing bass is like cardiac massage, a feeling of helplessness and anger rises. Anger in every direction, but especially at yourself for not having done enough research when choosing your holiday destination. Isn't that exactly what you want on holiday? Six o'clock in the morning, peace and quiet returns. It's cool, finally sleep. Shortly before midday you wake up: it's hot, the nights are still in your limbs, you have a headache, everything is going slowly. How about a trip? Experience the beauty of Sardinia? No, better not today. And be careful: your nerves are frayed and patience is precious. One wrong word and one unnecessary argument can ruin the night after the day.
