Top rated hotels in Federal Way

Courtyard Seattle Federal Way
4.2/590 Reviews
I found the Courtyard Federal Way to be a halfway decent place to spend the night, but there were definitely some things that made my stay less than awesome. My room was comfortable and serviceable, and the bed was decent. I was on the 7th floor, but some of my co-workers who also stayed in the hotel on lower floors complained their room smelled strongly of B.O. However, despite being up on the 7th floor, I wasn’t immune to the loud banging as someone took out the trash behind the hotel and let the dumpster lid slam shut at 5:45am, waking me up way earlier than I’d intended. The morning after my sleep was where I experienced the most hiccups. Following the undesired super-early wakeup, I searched for some coffee to help finish my morning takeoff, only to find there wasn’t a coffeemaker in the room, so I went downstairs to see if there was something in the lobby — when I asked the desk clerk about coffee, he admitted not all the rooms had coffeemakers but they didn’t have coffee pots in the lobby, I had to go to the Starbucks shop in the lobby and buy coffee. When I checked in, I was told breakfast was included as part of my stay and that my room number would be on the list, so imagine my surprise when I was told at the Starbucks counter that my room number was not on the list. I went to the front desk and was informed that no, I didn’t get free breakfast after all, but the manager apologized and said she’d apply a credit to my account — however, the breakfast credit is only $10, which in many cases didn’t cover the entirety of the cost of breakfast at the in-house Starbucks/food place, so I ended up still having to pay a few bucks for an overpriced yet meager breakfast burrito. All in all, as a hotel, the place is okay, but definitely not a great overall experience like I’ve come to expect at hotels in general or Courtyard by Marriott locations.
