Good location, good quality, good food and everything you need when you go for a skiing vacation. Rooms are small, but enough, the common areas are generous and you almost always find a spot and space for your family. Staff was ok, but extra plus for those in the dining area.

It is tricky to navigate a fair review, given some highlights, however on balance this was the most disappointing of all our Norwegian and Swedish family ski trips and the only one we would not return to, despite the ski resort itself being excellent. The position, rooms, facilities, some of the food and cleanliness all get top scores, along with a few members of staff, but alas those few staff are far outnumbered by some really quite poor service, poor attitude, lack of staff training and effectively poor management of the hotel staff. If this was a budget hotel much could be overlooked, but it is not and their standards should be significantly higher. Giving examples is not useful as I can see the hotel doesn’t read their reviews, but essentially it is a real shame as the hotel really only needs to get a few more staff, train them much more thoroughly and have a more present senior manager roaming to enforce standards; most the issues would be solved. Only one major tip, don’t let drunk off duty staff sit in the bar being very loud and using foul language!

Beautiful setting but lacking in good service and personality. We had a very disappointing stay here. Arrived earlier than check in time and it welcomed or offered a drink. Evening buffet very average but expensive (and almost nowhere else around to eat). Loud music from a party until 3.30sm one night. Sauna and pool closed for a whole day with no notice/ warning. Really disappointed, expected typical Norwegian hospitality and friendliness, but severely lacking! Skiing brilliant though

My stay at Gudbrandsgard Hotell was excellent. All staff members were super friendly. The food was spectacular! It's a real winter paradise! Cozy lobby with big windows facing the slopes gives very warm and welcoming feeling. This is definitely the right place for your vacation if you are visiting Kvitfjell.

Just back from a week here. Overall a very nice hotel but with a couple of minor bits that could be improved upon. We arrived just after 1.00 pm from the train to a rather luke warm greeting. Too early to check in but not given any advice as to what we could do whilst waiting. Finally checked in a little after 3. Room was very nice for a ski hotel. Thankfully we’d bought our own kettle these are never provided in Europe outside the UK. Lovely big comfortable bed once you climb over the large wooden bed frame. TV channels limited & none in English except the odd English subtitled programme so bring your own entertainment. The WiFi was patchy so our Amazon stick couldn’t pick it up from our room. We were on full board. A good choice at breakfast although we never found the hot food was actually hot or even really warm. Very surprised that there wasn’t a sniff of any smoked salmon at breakfast. The lunchtime soups were lovely & filling but often very spicy. Dinner was always a soup starter, then a choice of a meat, fish or veggie dish & one choice of dessert. We were disappointed to have two meals repeated over our week - hard to believe they can’t come up with a 7 day menu in a 4* hotel. The meat options usually come with very rich sauces. The portions are large though so you won’t go hungry. Bar prices are high as you’d expect in Norway although the local draft beer & house wines are just about doable. We’d also picked up some duty free at LHR on our way out. The local supermarket just up the road is surprisingly well stocked & you can pick up beers & nibbles there (no alcohol sales on a Sunday). The majority of the staff were exceptional. Very helpful, happy to chat & offer advice on the ski area. The hotel facilities were excellent & very typically furnished. And don’t believe what anyone says, unless you are a beginner, green 9 run down is great!

Just finished 4 nights, 3 days of skiing, at this wonderful resort and hotel. First a note on Kvitfjell. I love skiing in Norway, it’s so uncrowded and laid back. I’ve always found the snow conditions to be excellent and the runs are a pleasure to ski. Kvitfjell is no exception to this. We had plenty of runs to keep us fully occupied over three days. They range from easy to challenging. If you like to look good on wide open pistes, this is the place for you! It’s spread across three different sides, which again helps mix things up. There are a good selection of cafes/restaurants on the mountain which were all good quality and very welcoming. We arrived just after the World Cup races and so the resort was wonderfully quiet. Often we had whole runs all to ourselves. We only had to share a chairlift once in 3 days! Everything is very convenient, making for a stress free holiday. The Gudbrandsgard Hotel was also very welcoming. The staff were very friendly. We had a standard room which was cosy and pretty basic but very comfortable. We were on full board and so we ate in the restaurant every night. There was a small choice, normally a meat dish, a fish dish and a vegetarian option. The food was consistently very good. The bar was pleasant too. The swimming pool was surprisingly large. The boot room was a decent size and opened out to the slope, literally ski in/ski out. All in all, a great ski hotel. For a few days of great skiing, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place.

Both my son and I are still here on a skiing trip. What amazing food and lovely friendly staff! We both feel absolutely stuffed after dinner ( British expression meaning contentedly full of good food). Small hotel but excellent facilities.
