We are just back for a two night stay at The Belted Will Inn and a thorough tour of the local area's Roman ruins and artefacts. Firstly, The Inn does not open until 5pm on weekdays, so don't get there too early! We were welcomed, despite arriving early (3pm) and given the option to go to the room but we decided on a quick visit to Birdoswald Roman Fort a few miles up the road to give the kids a bit of exercise after a long drive. On arrival back at the Inn, we were very happy with the large family room we had booked. A large double bed and separate bunk beds with flat screen TV, Excellent tea and coffee facilities, very clean room and comfortable. Very impressed. Only thing lacking was somewhere to hang your coat! We had our evening meal at the inn as well and the food was excellent. So good, in fact, that we ate there on our second night too. which was a Friday and a special fish and chips menu which was very good, in fact, probably the best fish and chips I have ever had! Book though, as the pub is very busy on Friday nights. Our hosts and their bar staff were very welcoming and friendly, giving us great advice on the local sites and where to visit. Plenty of options behind the bar although only one of the three hand pumps was in use but the Wainwrights on Keg was very good. Our teenage boys especially liked the pool and darts board and juke box (sorry other patrons! ) Breakfast was also very good with a full hot breakfast menu and fruit, cereal, juice and yoghurt set up on a table. Overall a 10/10 trip. highly recommended.

We visited this pub whilst on holiday & were overwhelmed with how welcoming this pub is. They were very engaging with us & the kids. Nothing was too much trouble & they even brought our dog a bowl of water. We had tea & it was really great food. All round a great pub to visit & exactly how the British pub should be!

I can't say enough good about our stay! The food was great, the room was so comfortable, and the hosts went above and beyond in so many ways. I highly recommend this stay for Hadrians Wall walkers or bikers, but it would also be well worth your time to make a special trip.

A must stay if wanting off the track and a real local life visit. Very handy to Hadrians Wall. Food is yum as, as is owners, Alyson and Steve, and Jim, their barman! You will not regret staying here at all!

We stayed here for 4 nights 12 - 16 July and it was perfect. Alyson, Stephen and their staff were friendly, efficient and more than helpful. An extra chair was requested for our room and it was provided within minutes. The room had everything necessary and was spotless. The food was excellent, superb breakfast choice. Dinner for 6 was served promptly and with a smile and some friendly chat. The steak pie has to have a special mention, fabulous melt in the mouth pastry, tender steak pieces and a great gravy. There was always a welcome when leaving of a morning and coming back in the evening, interest in how your day had been. The pub is a local and had a cheerful atmosphere each evening. The apple cider is well recommended. Old fashioned in a very homely way. Not the Ritz.... just better in every way that matters. Any minor negatives are inconsequential.

Stayed for one night on 17th June - staff were amazing, landlady went over and above in every aspect. Food was also amazing. Basic but adequate room, great location - would definitely return and recommend! Thanks xxx

Parking is private for 10 cars or so opposite the pub. Our room was small but nicely furnished, tea coffee, small TV, good WiFi and immaculately clean. All you need for a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was an excellent choice of vegetarian, full or lighter English breakfast, scrambled eggs, salmon on toasted bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Fruit juice, tea or coffee and more toast availa-ble. All tasty, well prepared and served in a very friendly efficient way. There is a good menu choice from the usual pub favourites to slightly different choices on a similar theme. My fish theme, fried cod, scampi and battered prawns with home made chips and vegetables. Really tasty, well priced and again served in a very friendly efficient way. Overall a great village pub. Friendly main bar, side room restaurant to enjoy food with a lovely atmosphere.

We were walking Hadrian’s Wall Way and stayed here for one night last week. The friendly owners picked us up and dropped us back the next morning (that was pre-arranged but they went out of their way and dropped us off right back at the walk which was very kind and saved us a hill!). My room was cosy and comfortable and the food was delicious and the service very friendly. Would very much recommend.
