We loved staying at the Maitai Lapita Village Huahine. The staff is warm and friendly, always helpful. The location, right on the beach, was ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing. You can walk to town in ~10-15 minutes, enjoying the beach along the way while respectfully walking by a few private homes. I appreciated the detailed Botanical Garden Guide, using a QR code, which I followed to learn about many of the gorgeous native and other Polynesian plants throughout the property. As a birder, I enjoyed watching and listening to the birds, too. Our bungalow on the pond was a delight, with high ceilings, a huge bathroom, a private plunge pool, and a large deck. The free double kayak was quite heavy, but it was fun to use it once. The staff arranged for us to go on two wonderful excursions by private companies— snorkeling and the Eco Tour.

Huahine is a seriously magical island. This small village hotel with 30 guest huts set along a pond of water flowers is so very cozy and relaxing. The villas are all private and include a plunge pool and large outside area for relaxing. They have a refrigerator in the large room. The bathroom is large and lovely. The beach is just a short walk from the reception and through the restaurant. There is also a gorgeous pool at the beach, as well as loungers. You can also walk along the beach into the small village with a grocery, bank, bars, and restaurants. Another bonus is the small museum in the reception area that tells the island's story. Very nice.

The experience was very mixed at this hotel We stayed for 5 nights The good: Lovely setting Central Location Very large and comfortable rooms Pleasant pool area Not So Good There is no help with luggage (not even a trolley) and some rooms are a long way The breakfast buffet is boring and unimaginative. Exactly the same food every day! The reception staff are pleasant but generally lazy. They don't want to be bothered. No drinks service by the pool or on the small beach We ate at the Huahine Yacht club most evenings which was much better and more interesting than the hotel.

A beautiful place but with a hotel in dire need of a refurbishment. The interior of the bungalow looks really dated and in serious need of being freshened up. Moreover, and what really drags down the overall impression is the restaurant Omai situated just beside the hotel complex. Food quality is good (dinner) but the service is awful. The breakfast was relatively low in quality. My dessert was forgotten twice and I had to point that out before signing the bill. Kitchen logistics appear to be in serious need of being sharpened. Overall, this would not have been an issue at all, but paying € 500/night I expect far more – not value for money. This was definitely a one-off for me.

This is a lovely hotel- beautiful , very spacious cabins set around a water lily covered lagoon. The food was excellent with a very good choice so you do not need to repeat yourself even after 5 nights. You can walk from the hotel along the beach to the little town for lunch, shopping and watching the daily ferry come in. The price of drinks here was a little less pricey than the other hotels we stayed in in Polynesia. But what really made the hotel stand out was the staff- they were really helpful, charming and genuine- nothing was too much trouble for them.

Lapita never disappoints. I had a wonderfully large room with its own plunge pool. It was quiet, comfortable and private. There is nice snorkeling from their beach and the nearby swimming pool is beautiful. I ate every breakfast in the restaurant and a few dinners there. They were all excellent. It is an easy walk into town along the beach where there is a large grocery store and restaurants.

We stayed at Maitai Lapita Village for three nights and had an amazing stay. The grounds are beautiful and our "hut" was very comfortable and had a small private plunge pool. The one negative for me is that in our room (and I was told all the others when I called to inquire) is there there is a strange and large TV and TV stand right in the middle of the room. There is no way to move it and it was a bit of an eye-sore and we ended up just trying to cover it up with our sarongs. There is an on-site restaurant and we enjoyed the breakfast and had dinner there one night as well. There is a pool that goes right out onto a small, beautiful swimming beach that has great views of the sunset. Most notable for us though, was the staff. They were warm, welcoming and overall incredible. From the check-in to the restaurant staff everyone was inviting and friendly. A special shout out to Vaea and the other ladies at reception who were so helpful in answering any questions and helping to organize our e-bikes. We would absolutely return...and plan to. Thank you!

Wonderful hotel! The staff are amazing--welcoming and super nice. Rooms are spacious and the air conditioning plus large ceiling fan works really well. We had a premium lake bungalow (room 103 closest to reception and then through to the bar/restaurant and pool/beach--a 2 minute walk at most) which had a large covered deck with seating and loungers. The hotel is quiet and set on beautiful grounds with lush vegetation; it is small enough that if you were in the room furthest from the beach, you would still be able to walk there in under five minutes. Next to reception is an interesting historical display--the hotel grounds and rooms are filled with artefacts and cultural pieces from Huahine history. Lovely crescent-shaped beach with ample loungers and umbrellas as well as shade from trees. If you love dogs, you're in luck -- there is a paddle board/kayak rental place at the end of the beach where three dogs live who come to beach and play every day. Water shoes recommended as there is quite a lot of washed up broken coral on the beach and in the ocean. Breakfast buffet was very good--plenty of variety from bacon and eggs-type to granola and muesli to fruit and yogurt to fresh meats and cheeses. We drove around the island and visited the only other "large-ish" hotel we could find (Hotel Le Mahana in Parea) and the Lapita gets our vote hands down. Mahana has a larger beach for sure, but the food is better at Lapita and the grounds are much nicer. PLUS ... you can walk along the beach to the Huahine Yacht Club from Lapita .., don't miss HYC's happy hour (5 to 6 PM)!
