How to rate this place? Location is beautiful, but our view was obstructed by trees/brush that could be trimmed. The Cottage was very functional. A lot of collectibles and antiques that were interesting but the furniture on which you sit—threadbare. The chairs with towels draped in the seats—really threadbare. Don’t lift those towels. Take note that Taste of Alaska is 15+ minutes from Fairbanks. Not a bad drive, but plan your days accordingly. No quick trips back to the hotel to drop off stuff. Debbie was fantastic. She’s the reason for 4 stars. Good breakfast and great conversationalist. Thanks to her for advice, help and knowledge of Fairbanks.

We stayed at a Taste of Alaska for 6 nights with a northern lights tour group. It was a wonderful experience! The lodge itself was clean and comfortable, and the quirky decor was lots of fun. The owner's Mom, Debbie, was entertaining as well! The breakfasts were just fine, with lots of choice. Most importantly, the setting was great for Aurora viewing--and it was great to hear the "aurora alarm" in our room, put on our warm gear, and head out the door forspectacular viewing just a few feet from the lodge. We appreciated the provision of warm coats, boots, and crampons.

Fantastic! Cabin was clean and so comfortable. 2 bedrooms, kitchen and spacious living room/ dining room. Even discovered that we had our own unadvertised jacuzzi downstairs! The south facing view from the living room window and off the front deck was beautiful! Perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset! Panoramic views of the valley. Could even see Denali in the distance. I was able to take great pictures of the aurora from the front deck. They also have an aurora viewing deck and warming hut with north facing views right on the property and aurora wake up calls. Breakfast was very good and included in the price of the cabin. The dining area was lovely with beautiful views and the owners and staff were friendly and accommodating. It is also a 20 minute walk to the dogsledding tours along a groomed trail through the woods. No bears or wolves in winter. Walk was easy and felt very safe. Wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay there again.

The Taste of Alaska Lodge was a very homey and unique place to stay. Debbie and Kory were very accommodating and fun to talk to. It was great hearing the stories they shared. We were there with a group trip (with Gondwana) and it was nice to see they had a strong partnership. The breakfasts were made fresh and varied day-to-day, which was nice. The dinner meals we had there were really good - especially the final night of the group trip! We really liked the singing alarm that would wake us up when the Northern Lights were starting their show. We were so excited to be able to extend our trip by an extra day in order to try one additional night of looking for the Northern Lights (which totally paid off!!). We highly recommend the Taste of Alaska Lodge for a nice getaway not to far from Fairbanks, but far enough to feel like you’re really in Alaska! You’ll be taken care of very well!

We had a wonderful stay at A Taste of Alaska lodge! We were there for six nights and each morning, we were served different breakfast items. There was oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, egg casseroles, pancakes, french toast, pastries, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and the best berries that I don't recall the name of! The decor is an eclectic collection of everything and it was interesting to look around. There are refrigerators on each floor for visitors to use. No outside shoes allowed indoors and they provide slippers if you need them. The rooms are clean and spacious. The Aurora viewing area is an easy walk from each room. We were blessed with 4 nights of beautiful Aurora lights!! There is a warming hut there with comfy sofas and snow shoes for hiking in the fresh snow. Lastly, the staff was very nice and helpful. Thank you!! Debbie had us laughing so much; please don't even think of retiring!

We had a great time at A Taste of Alaska Lodge. We had rooms in the main lodge and couldn't stop looking at all the memorabilia that was everywhere! All super interesting. The rooms were super clean and the breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed talking with everyone--tons of local knowledge. If we're ever back in Fairbanks, we'll book again! (The northern lights may be calling our name. :) )

Where do I start? We took our grandchildren to Alaska for their spring break and after much research were able to find the A Taste of Alaska Lodge. From the moment we arrived Cory welcomed us and made our grandchildren (aged 13 and 11) feel right at home. We stayed in the Cedar Cabin and it was great! Cory and Debbie are absolutely wonderful hosts. Breakfasts every morning were a perfect way to start our day (thanks to Cheyenne!) I can go on and on, but suffice it to say you CANNOT go wrong staying here. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip back!

We had an exceptional stay at the Taste of Alaska Lodge last week. We were part of a tour with Gondwana Eco Tours (highly recommended) and enjoyed a 6-night stay at the lodge. The lodge is family owned and you can tell they put their heart into the business. They also have a great sense of humor and are very knowledgeable. The viewing cabin and alarm system in the rooms for viewing the Northern Lights were perfect. We were there during an extreme cold snap in the -40s and we still enjoyed every bit of our trip. We were fortunate enough to see the lights, but I would recommend this lodge even if seeing them is not important to you. Beautiful area for hiking, snow shoeing and just enjoying nature. I wish I could go back this summer. The pics were taken from the viewing area directly behind the lodge.

Can't say enough about them. From checking in to departing I was treated as family. The main lodge was very spacious and friendly. Kory, Lily, Debbie, David and let's not forget the puppies made every minute very down to earth and enjoyable. I stayed in "Debbie's Garage Chalet" a quaint little chalet with a great view. Room was clean and spacious for 1 or 2 people. During my stay it was -28f and I had a rental car. there was a plug-in engine block heater at the chalet avail for use which came in handy a few days. Breakfast was plentiful and very delicious consisting of a variety of desires including eggs, oatmeal, bagels, toast, fruit, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee, juice and a few others. More than plenty to fill the belly. During the night hours (9pm-3am) the lodge had an Aurora expert at the warming hut basically giving you a play by play of what is about to happen according to the space weather data, and she was pretty much right on about everything, very impressive!!!! Did I say it was -28F. So, the warming hut was essential to keeping hands, feet, cheeks and noses warm. Oh, also camera gear from freezing as well. "A Taste of Alaska" is an absolute gem!!!!!!! Highly recommended!!!!!! Beautiful area and INCREDIBLY AWESOME hosts!!!!!! Lance Bassett
