We enjoyed our Grizzly Lodge 3 day stay in March 2025 immensely. We came to see the Aurora Borealis. When we arrived, the owner greeted us and explained the special setup for viewing. She had access to a University of Alaska, Fairbanks website that had a camera several miles away. The camera was on all night and showed when the lights were strongest and where in the sky they were. One of her chores was to make preparations for the next morning's breakfast which her husband would then be in charge of. She chose to do this late at night so that she could monitor the camera and alert all guests when the aurora borealis showed up. One night it was 2 a.m. and another night it was 3. Since the Grizzly Lodge was 10 miles or so away from Fairbanks, the view of the lights was outstanding. Breakfast each morning was served from 9 to 10. One morning it was quiche, another it was scrambled eggs, and another hash, all prepared fresh. Along with this was a number of other options such as pastries, oatmeal, cereal, and other things I forget. Do bring your own transportation for other meals or tours. I have stayed at a number of B&B's and this one was among the best.

We had a great stay here last week! I was worried ahead of time as their website was no up and I was afraid they were out of business. They are indeed still there and are getting a new website up soon. Once you book, you really don't hear back until about the week before your stay, but it worked out well. Janet and Fred are the nicest people and really want to make sure your trip is the best it can be. Breakfasts were good, and had a. lot of healthy options. Different items each day too, which is nice vs a regular hotel breakfast. Our room was clean, comfy, spacious and well kept. It even had boot warmers! Janet will knock only our door (if you want) if the aurora is out, which we very much appreciated. The road to get to the lodge is easy and not on one of the restricted roads from the car rental companies. We will definitely stay here again!

Janet and JB were excellent hosts, telling us all about how to watch for the aurora on the tracker and giving recommendations for things to do. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast every morning had a lot of variety for grab and go items plus a hot dish that changed daily. We were able to easily go out for activities during the day and see amazing Northern Lights at night! Would stay here again! A note, many reviews mention it being difficult to contact the staff and I similarly did not receive replies to my emails however when I called twice in a row, Janet picked up and was able to quickly address modifying my reservation. I recommend calling as this quaint lodge is run by only 3 people.

The place is clean, warm, and welcoming. Janet and JB were amazing hosts and the rooms were comfortable, clean and cozy. The lodge is slightly out of the city so you have prime Aurora viewing right outside your door. Janet offers a midnight knock if you are wanting to get some sleep but don't want to miss the lights. She also provides information on tours and/or recommendations around Fairbanks. They provide hot breakfast which was great and have a great common area for commiserating while you wait for the lights to appear, as well as a tracker. My group of friends and I played cards while we waited. They have mini fridges where you can store food or snacks too! Overall such a great first experience in Alaska. I can't recommend this place enough. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks Janet and JB!

We had a delightful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. But it was the wonderful hosts that really made our stay. They woke us when the northern lights were out (at our request) and had lots of great advice to share about things to do in Fairbanks.

If you love a private setting in the woods, with a balcony to view the aurora or just enjoy peace and quiet then you will love this acommodation. Since we visited in September, we only had one brief viewing of the aurora, but the fall colors were beautiful. This location is great for Chena Hot Springs, Museums in Fairbanks, North Pole, and even Denali isn't too far to drive down for a day. The breakfasts were delicious and staff very pleasant. There is an aurora wakeup call if its out. We loved being able to sleep knowing that if it appeared, they would wake us. Next time, I would visit in October or March or early April to see aurora. Plan to stay at least 5 days for a better chance seeing the skies light up.

Fred and Janet are a delight! The offer the most amazing service of an "Aurora Wake-Up Call" -- during the night, when the northern lights are at their peak, they will knock on your door and let you know it's time to go outside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Fairbanks. Our hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. They wok us up for the Northern Lights both nights and we say an incredible display from their balcony. The lodge can use some updating and our bathroom was very small but our stay was nice.

We have tried repeatedly to contact this establishment to discuss our upcoming reservation by phone and e mail and registered letter. They do not return calls, refused to pick up the registered letter I mailed to them and no response to any emails. They had no problem taking full payment for reservation. I regret I chose Alaska Grizzly Lodge for our stay. Good luck.
