We stayed here for one night. The room was reasonably large and comfortable, but also a little tired. The restaurant was fully booked, so we ate in town. Based on prices we paid, the hotel restaurant may be the better choice. We also did not have breakfast, an 18 euro option PP. There is a good bakery within walking distance on the main square.

We have returned as a family, using the hotel as a convenient base for various trips into parts of the alps close by. This was a short 2 night stay when the weather was really hot. The hotel is very convenient for the motorway but also surprisingly quiet and tranquil with nice gardens and a small but perfectly lovely pool. The main chateau is really lovely and beautifully restored public areas including the bar, lounge and restaurant. In the hot weather we used the outside restaurant in the evening, which served really excellent food. Obviously a popular restaurant with locals so booking is a good idea. Our rooms were in an adjacent building which I would politely called "tatty chic", clean and spacious, but in need of some TLC and probably an entire re-fit in the not to distant future. Having said that, they had great a/c and a good view across the courtyard. The rooms didn't quite meet the expectation set by the rest of the hotel, nevertheless, it was a greta base and one we would return to.

A superb place to stay, already thinking of when I can return again. Location was excellent as a base for days out in the surrounding area.

If you like a charming hotel with character, we can certainly recommend the Commanderie. You can sense the history of the environment and do not forget to enjoy a lovely, excellent dinner at the restaurant.

Unfortunately we were initially shown a different room to the one we had been shown on our reservation. We complained and were then shown the corresponding room. I feel I should warn others as there was no comparison between the two rooms

good historic castle-hotel on the way from Switzerland to Southern France but also for staying and relaxing a little longer. Beautiful garden, silence, friendly staff (exept the people who abruptly end your breakfast), good, but not outstanding kitchen.

I booked a ‘Charme Room’. *********** shows a light, airy period room with a balcony. It also claims ‘outside furniture’ as part of the amenities offered. If you get room 48, crack in elsewhere. I can tell you its very depressing. Two small windows with the view of the neighbouring house walls. Dark & slightly creepy vibe. Dread to think what a regular room Is like. Only thing more depressing is the gym. A windowless room (technically a large cupboard) with dome machines thrown in. The endophins have a lot if work to do to raise your spirits. All in all best avoided.

On our way down to the South of France, we spent a night at the Château de la Commanderie. A the restaurant we were served a Lukullian meal and breakfast was a feast with freshly pressed OJ, Nespresso coffee, scrambled eggs and what not ...
