Holiday Inn Express & Suites Eugene Downtown - University
4.3/5114 Reviews
While not as over priced as many hotels in Eugene, Oregon, this Holiday Inn offers a generally average experience with some noted benefits and complaints. On the plus side, the rooms have high ceilings, enough space to move around, good window coverings, tons of USB ports and electrical outlets, and a *slightly* above-average breakfast. The mostly cheap and mediocre breakfast included several choices, a few good fresh fruit choices, disgusting pre-made “omelets”, and a pancake-making machine that produces mediocre but edible pancakes. On the negative side, the bathroom and carpets suffered from the same maintenance problems you see in cheap hotels: big stains, chipped paint, darkened grout, decaying toilet seat, thin side walls, and unknown substances on the bathroom floor and toilet seat. In my unit 340, the bathroom floor included a semi-hardened, sticky substance in several locations. And I really have zero sympathy for big carpet stains in the middle of the room… this is usually a sign of a maintenance team that has simply given up on its core responsibilities. Add to this the ambience of a polite but chain-smoking cleaning crew congregating outside one of the main exits, squishing their cigarette butts into the ground, and you epitomize mediocrity. The outside grounds of this hotel could be greatly improved by the tiniest bit of effort. It’s a shame that hotels like this with good bones and potential, are managed in such a way as to cut every possible corner to maximize profits, thus creating multiple opportunities for customer dissatisfaction. Managers at mid-level hotels like this, which are clearly making good money already, should be required to attend customer experience professional development, or at least stay in a Marriott or a Hyatt multiple times a year to remind them of what a good hotel is all about.

Hotel environment is not bad, next to a shopping center, is the opening of the hotel around the door early, the hotel staff can also, compare nice, we rented a car, the hotel can park, the river view by the river is not recommended, there is a railway nearby Very noisy at night, the train whistle all the way, this hotel is not in the city center, if you live here, it is strongly recommended to rent a car, the airport taxi to the hotel should be between 30 and 40 knives, tipping 3 knives enough. Figure 1 is just flying over the hotel when flying to Eugene.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. The event space was great, and the hotel event staff was helpful and professional. However, the hotel room itself and some other service was not acceptable. The room was quaint and decorated in an interesting and unique way but was dark (even with all lights on it was dim). No housekeeping services were provided throughout my 4-night stay. I have never heard of such a thing at any hotel. As such, trash accumulated and the bath towels got musty for lack of being changed out and lack of adequate hanging space. There was no phone list in the room to contact the front desk, order room service, how to call between rooms, etc. I purchased a $4 can of soda from the store in the lobby. I requested a plastic cup and ice to go with it and was told I had to go to my hotel room floor for ice. Even if I had done that it would not have addressed the plastic cup request. For the amount this hotel charges per night I would have thought the service would be better. And this is a Hilton Hotel?! I do not recommend staying at this establishment. There are better options for the amount of money they charge per night.

Eugene is a good city! It feels good to live here! There are many restaurants downstairs in the hotel! I recommend a Thai food that tastes very good! The price is also very good!
Hayward Inn

This is a clean, modern hotel with a helpful staff and excellent breakfast, BUT the hotel's designer (at least for the main building in the front) seemed to focus on form over function. In particular, it seems that little attention was paid to sound-proofing, either between floors or from outside. I was awakened in the middle of two nights out of four, once by a noisy room above and once by street noise. It even seemed like the guest room windows were single-pane, which is ridiculous both for energy and noise. Other minor issues: though guests are provided with multiple large towels, the bathroom had only one small towel rod. And my wife disliked the sliding bathroom door that didn't really close off that room. There are apparently other buildings in the rear, but we know nothing of them. In summary, this hotel is a mixed bag: nice in many ways but don't expect quiet, especially if you have a room near Franklin Blvd.
Even Hotel Eugene

Had to stay here last minute when my son was hospitalized in Eugene. I know Eugene, have stayed at the Residence Inn, and a few others. The Even was suprisingly nice and would be where I would stay again. Starting with Jonathan at the front desk (and Rosa at checkout was wonderful as well), we needed a suite, and he found us a AAA rate, which I appreciated We had room 420, very large accessible suite-huge bathroom, nice body wash, shampoo, etc. Two separate rooms with a nice little balcony. I am 66 and slept on the couch which was extremely comfortable. Room was spotlessly clean, well-designed and comfortable, very nice linens, towels, etc. I am a huge hotel princess (most often stay at very high end hotels like Four Seasons), but I would not hesitate to stay here again. Staff were extremely professional, everything sparkling clean and all aesthetically pleasing. They pay attention to IHG status, which is also nice.
