The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The room was very clean and comfortable – I personally found the bed particularly comfortable.
The sauna area was also nice and clean.
A small deduction for the mountains of towels that accumulated in the baskets late in the evening and the paper cups at the water level, which aren't particularly sustainable. (Glass is certainly not an option for the sauna area, but reusable cups might be).
The breakfast buffet was well-stocked, ranging from fruity to hearty, and the hotel restaurant was also delicious – however, even as a hotel guest, it is recommended to reserve a table for the evening.
The surrounding area is ideal for hikes, a visit to the Zugspitze, Eibsee, etc.
Conclusion: I would gladly return anytime – if you want to go to the GAP area.

Ettal is one of the most picturesque little towns you will find in the alps of Germany. The room was lovely, I got the room with the view of the Abbey, which I would suggest over the view of the hill where the sheep are, just because the hill is really steep and I don't think you really get all that great of a view. We ate at the hotel a couple times and the food was really good. English was not typically spoken here, but we got by no problem with our very limited German vocabulary. You can pretty much walk to anywhere you want within the town in just a few minutes. The Abbey is beautiful and there are many other restaurants to choose from. Definitely take a day trip to walk Partnach Gorge, it is amazing! Take another day trip to Lindhoff Castle. Both are only about a 10-20 min drive away.

We thought this was an excellent hotel - the rooms were very comfortable (with a sensational view), the staff were friendly and the quality of the food was brilliant. The hotel is nicely situated for Garmisch Partenkirchen and Oberammagau

The location is amazing! Very silence and very beautifull. Very cosy rooms. The staff is polite, especially Atanas and him team from restaurant. I will recomend this place to everybody! The breakfast and the drinks are high quality. Very suatable for kids!

Day 13 (of 20) of Our2022EuroAdventure from Budapest, cruise along the Donau, and overland through Bayerische then Paris. Wish we spend more than one night (of a guided trip) at Blaue Gams! Here for the Leidenschaftsspiel and all its historical/spiritual significance. The location is ideal, almost off the beaten path. Cannot overstate the extraordinary vistas from our lanai (balcony). Watching the small town below wake up to a new day as we prepared to depart was quite memorable. The hotel serves a delicious breakfast and coffees to suit every international taste — in a dining room where strangers can mingle and share stories; even as they rushed to move on to the next adventure. Appreciated the cozy rustic feel of the place. Will certainly go out of way to stay here on the next trek. Hoagland recommended. Check it out.
