This place is just amazing. Friendly staff, unbelievable views, impeccably clean, great food and beautiful amenities. Breakfast buffet is impressive! Beds are comfy. Bathrooms are sleek and modern. Dining room has spectacular views of the cliffs and beach. Partner hotel nearby with additional amenities and spa.

The Mr. and I only had one night at the beautiful Hotel Dormy House. The setting on top of the hill, with sweeping seaside views, couldn't have been more magical. We booked room #3, because we wanted a scenic view and boy oh boy did we get it. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable and we appreciated the modern bathroom and that there multiple outlets in the room, The grounds were spectacular, and offered beach access. We had dinner in the bistro and enjoyed the fish and chips and friendly service. If the opportunity presented itself, I would happily book a stay at the Hotel Dormy House.

Many thanks to the Dormy House for an epic two days in which my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was wonderful and we loved our stay. Will now offer my two cents if you are considering the Dormy House for a special occasion. Over those two nights we had an excellence room with a sea view and a deluxe sea view with a jacuzzi - rooms 202 and 203 if I recall correctly. 1. Call/email the Dormy House staff to help you plan rather than roll the dice with an online booking hoping for the best outcome. They speak English and were quick to respond. 2. Take your time to enjoy the property. Within 30 minutes of arriving, we sat in the garden to enjoy the view. Even more over the top if you order the viennoise (hot chocolate with a mountain of whipped cream) and just enjoy the moment. And if you need a blanket, just ask for one. 3. Room 203 (excellence room with sea view) is in the main middle building and has the left two windows. It is a modern room, amazing bathroom. 4. Room 202 (jacuzzi room) has the three windows and considerable thought has gone into balancing the view of the cliffs on both sides with privacy. The bathroom is a bit more dated. 5. The hotel has a private path which makes it so well located and feel so special. Turn right at the bottom to enter the center of town. Turn left and you are on the path towards the cliff with the needle. 6. As for the restaurants, we only went to the bar for an evening of champagne and charcuterie which was lovely. Etretat has wonderful restaurants we wanted to try so no regrets about how we planned our time. We will aspire to return in the future!

Great location and fantastic views from the bar and grassed area overlooking the beach and the cliffs toward the north end of the beach. The hotel has onsite parking which you can access prior to the check in time which is an absolute bonus as parking in Ètretat can be challenging, especially on the weekend. Once you have parked your car there is no need to move it until you check out. You can access the beach and town on a private pathway of the hotel and also access the walking trails to the south of the beach from this path. I would recommend getting up super early and head out walking, there are less people and you get great morning light. I would also suggest exploring the beach at low tide especially the south end. There is a tunnel that you can access which will take you through the cliffs and to the other beach. This was a lot of fun and the view on the other side was beautiful. We almost had the beach to ourselves, there were only 6 other people on the whole beach. We chose to book one of the basic rooms, simply because we are on vacation for several months so we’re trying to be cut costs where possible. In hindsight this was a big mistake and next time I would opt for a room with a view. Our room was very tiny, like super tiny, it was very hot (no aircon), very noisy and the room seemed to be on an angle so we felt like we were going to roll out of the bed. Safe to say we didn’t sleep particularly well. There is also no lift in the main house, so if you have lots of luggage like we did, this was a challenge. I can’t comment on the restaurant’s as we didn’t eat at the hotel. The menu is pretty limited in the main restaurant and to be honest the food in the bistro was extremely expensive for what it was.

I was really looking forward to this stay. On me, I went in November and the fog and overcast were constant and cold. But the vibe on this place was off putting. The front desk clerk was obsessed with my moving my car from the reception area…she called my room while I visited the “facilities” and let it ring and ring while I couldn’t get to the phone. The wait staff were excellent. The bartender great. The waiter, great. The food, okay. The drink was great. Watch out leaving the bar there is a 4 inch or so trip step that is not visible in the dark bar. I was glad to leave. Like I said, it was a bad vibe and I really, really was looking forward to this one stay stopover.
