Best Hotels near Esperanza Port, Esperanza

We specifically visited Malapascua to dive with the thresher sharks — which was outstanding — but we were pleasantly rewarded with an amazing stay at Ocean Vida. The staff, food, bar, room, and dive center were all excellent and it was one of the highlights of our travels in the Philippines. Our fabulous bartender, Grace, was a true standout. The level of service and friendship was amazing, not to mention the best cocktails we’ve had in our month in the Philippines. We have no hesitation recommending a stay at Ocean Vida to any divers out there. PS - did we mention diving with the thresher sharks was an incredible experience? Don’t hesitate - book.

Hotel location is particularly good, just at the pier! Get off the boat! It is convenient to go anywhere, similar to the middle position. However, the infrastructure is relatively poor, and it is a bit dirty. Although it is cleaned every day, it is clean, but it is really hard, it is always dirty. It is inevitable to take some sand off the shoes. No mineral water~ the most important In order to save money, I didn't have an air-conditioned room. It was really hot and sad. At night, the front desk was a bit like a bar. It was a bit noisy, but it was okay, not too late, and you know that diving is too tired and you will sleep very quickly.

It is a beautiful oasis, about 200 metres from the coast. The rooms are super stylish with a beautiful terrace with lunch seat and hanging mat. For breakfast and other meals you'll go along the mother's hotel Ocean Vida, located about 300 meters. The staff is very helpful, the care is a lot more expensive than outside the resort but the atmosphere and the framework make that difference certainly worth it

Very loud music at night, we asked the staff, they say there is a disco right next door, which has a party every Saturday, but only on Saturdays. If you choose this day, bring earplugs. You do not hear neighbors or other guests in the hotel. You order breakfast on a card and are served one dish and one drink (either coffee or pineapple juice). If you want more or something else, it costs extra. We think the breakfast is very basic. The shower is not very hot and the shower head holder could use a replacement, the shower falls down. The room is spacious and generally clean. Nice there is a closet and a table. The bed is comfortable, the linen clean, but old stains on the sheets and holes patched up. There is free drinking water to fill up at the reception, you are given one 1/2 liter drinking bottle per room. Bring your own if necessary. The water dispenser could use a thorough cleaning, doesn't look that appetizing. The staff are nice, friendly, smiling. The garden is nice and well maintained. Located 5 minutes walk from Bounty beach, which the hotel actually advises not to use because there is a lot of boat traffic and the risk of not being seen when swimming. Instead, they recommend the north beach, approx. 30 min walk or a ride on a scooter. We spent a few afternoons at Bounty Beach, it was okay, there are shady places and you can swim at the beach, just be aware of the boats. We walked to the north beach, but did not like it because of trash on the beach and too windy, but a nice walk up there.

The hotel is one of the earlier hotels on the island. There are fewer people here, which is very suitable for people who like quiet. The hotel has its own beach, bar and diving centre, with boat rides from Cebu to the hotel beach. The facilities in the room are old, but they are large and have a balcony. The food in the hotel restaurant tastes good. It is also a good choice if you don't want to go after tired diving. The water outside the beach is shallow and the visibility is good. Snorkeling with children is a good location, but be careful of sea urchins.

We arrived at the hotel with two bikes and baggage driven by rooms. No reception, delivery of keys in the hand and driven to our room. It was good that the room was comfortable, clean and very spacious, and in the bathroom c was the shower heating, which was not recently. It was also a diving center but no one was uncomfortable to offer something to us, my husband and I went to dive, and we asked for a boat to rent, but we waited for nothing for someone to get us. The restaurant is so, but no one wants to take a scooter to cross the streets in the middle of the bars. The positive note was the unique beach in all that landfill to be called beach, but the coral barrier destroyed by the boats, and the fruit cocktails and smoothies to enjoy on the beach. This island was a great disappointment, given the distance and time to reach us, you could have gone to some other island to end in beauty with nature and dives. It takes a lot more than 3 hours to get out of Cebu with a private taxi driver, risking life every meter. To get to the island you are forced to go on boat that if you get that on the way as our life risks (I have two nautical cards I know what I say) my husband's little nn you're gonna ruin a leg by going on boat because after you put us on foot you're gonna be And it was thrown down and thrown down to the knee, and all this we paid for; and in three nights we made only two, and less bad, because the boat, if it is in few, decided not to take you from the other side. The resort offers comfortable but small rooms back off the beach and right adjacent to the market where there are some decent meals to be had. There are a range of room options, including the queen bed option I had. This has a shower and reasonable sized bathroom, and a balcony. I had chosen the breakfast included option and this was fine. They even managed to cook it the morning after the typhoon. How ever, that was about all they managed after that even, despite their being little actual damage to the resort. Power had gone and rather than provide candles, nothing was given to allow us to see in rooms after dark. Neither were there any instructions given about what might need to be done during the storm. People moved in and left almost immediately because of the lack of action. The owner did refund 70% of the room rate for the storm-affected nights but it could so easily have been avoided with more thought. When one considers there were places better set up to cope for a fraction more, it made this resort one of the less attractive options. Solar panels had been installed by the time I left but were not working so it may get better.

Due to a last minute decision, to sqeeze in a few nights at Malapascua Island, the better hotels like Tepanee were already booked out. Pro: + top location at the cliffs at western end of Bounty Beach, just a few minutes walk away from the restaurants + friendly and helpful staff + spacious Deluxe Suite w/ ocean view, overlooking the entire Bounty Beach while sitting on the balcony + fair room rates + arrangement of private car transfer from/to Cebu Airport on request was reliable and at a very reasonable rate +/- simple but ok breakfast Underwhelming: - very sp****ly furnitured ”Deluxe” suite - not bedside lamps and tables, not bedside light switch, no amenities other than a little shampoo bag and 2 t-paper rolls, kind of careless - bathroom wasn't clean at arrival, crooked bathroom door hinge. Bathroom door cold only be closed by application of force - during low tide very shallow, not swimmable beach Not the fault of the owner is a misleading foto, posted by a fellow traveller, that shows a swimming pool, which looks very nice. The only problem is, that it is from whatever Blue Corals Hotels elsewhere on the planet. But defo not from Blue Corals Malapascua, which neither has a pool, nor pretends to have one. I got trapped by this foto, too. Bottom line: Hotel ok for 3-5 nights, when the price is right, but not sure if I would book again.
