Hornbill campsite is as relaxing or as exciting as you want to make it. We particularly enjoyed taking the electric bikes to the nearby suspension bridge. The tents were roomy, pretty well appointed and ours was right on the river with a great view. The food was freshly made on site and very good considering this is not a restaurant or hotel. WiFi is only available in the central tent area and pretty slow, but it is good to get away from the outside world in a place like this. As accomodation is in tents you can hear the call to prayer early in the morning. Otherwise incredibly peaceful.

If you’re expecting a bar and TVs in the room, then you’ll be disappointed. If, however, you are expecting a quiet, basic, rural retreat, glamping without the bells and whistles, with an exceptional view across the South Indian countryside, then you’ll be delighted.

Very good. Clean and comfortable. Food excellent. Beautiful spot by river. Pleasantly cool in the morning. Lights worked, hot water didn’t seem to come on for shower, but cold not very cold here! Highly recommended. Staff speak English. WiFii worked at reception.

Very friendly staff, beautiful scenery, and comfortable accommodations! We enjoyed the peace and quiet of birds echoing in the jungle. Tents with comfortable cots, AC, showers and flushing toilets. This is the perfect place to relax and recoup. The food was also great.

Pros 1. Quiet and simple place 2. Simple kerala food 3. Mr. Suresh (Manager) is helpful Cons 1. Place needs lot more cleaning and maintenance. Geyser was not working and AC also had some issues. 2. There are hardly any food options and food is mostly served cold. 3. Not many activities for young kids 4. Severe shortage of staff here. Only Mr.Suresh would run around. No room service. Even water for the room needs to be self served. 5. Not worth the price they are charging.

We visited the place on 16 Dec 24. The weather was very pleasant. Nestled amidst the lush green rubber plantations and forest on the banks of Periyar river this is an ideal place for nature lovers. The tents are comfortable. The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. Cycling, trekking, kayaking ( only if reservoir gates are closed) can be enjoyed. Visit to Salim Ali bird sanctuary should be a must in the itinerary. Overall a fabulous place and must visit for anyone looking to connect with pure nature.

The resort is a little piece of paradise. You can sit on your balcony and just listen to the sounds of the birds during the day and the frogs at night. It’s very luxurious camping and the food is marvelous. I would thoroughly recommend staying here to anyone.

Great experience! The most incredible views from our luxury tent - surrounded by nature, especially birds. Fabulous hospitality by our host - home cooked organic food, and was taken on a very interesting walk by our host. Also visited a nearby bird sanctuary. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because our tent could have done with a bit of updating.
