Munkudil Ayurveda Yoga Retreat

This place exceeded my expectations. Me and my friend were planning to stay only for a few days but eventually stayed way longer because we felt so at peace and the staff felt like family. The food is ridiculously good, the treatments are great, the view is breathtaking and I learned a lot from the ayurvedic doctor/yoga teacher. I can’t recommend it enough.

Amazing, peaceful, calming and bring present back to life. The property is located next to lush green forest and Periyar river. Just watching the forest itself is meditation - I saw wild monkeys' gang, wild buffalo gang, snakes - saw vipers in forest, green snake and bird life - you must do the bird watching trip with Matthew - about Matthew a very fine young very open and conversant and a very nice human being - he will guide you through anything - the yoga teacher is amazing (even though i must say i am not very competent in yoga) and Meditation as mentioned above just watching the flow of river, various moods of river - calm, flowing, rain , rapids itself was meditation. I will highly recommend this property and Matthew to anybody who wants to have a pause and reflect in his/her life.

The people at Munkudil retreat do everything to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Good food, sincere attention, nice treatments, beautiful view from the balcony! It has everything you wish for to relax and recharge! Definitely recommend

Munkudil is the most peaceful place with a wonderfull view. I had a room with a balcony, and I could sit there all day enjoying the view. The rooms are clean, the food tastes delicious and the staff is so kind and helpfull to your every wish. I would go back anytime.

I stayed at Munkudil by myself and extended my stay not once, but twice. The breathtaking scenery, incredible staff, and Ayurvedic medicinal practices were the three greatest highlights of my time there! Meals are plentiful and fresh here, and taste like true home food. Additionally, there is guided meditation and low-intensity yoga each day. You can pass the days by swimming in the river (your backyard) and if you’re interested in excursions, the very friendly Jishnu will help organize birdwatching, morning kayaking, or a sunset boat tour through the jungle. My advice would be to not be shy and ask about what kinds of activities are going on so you don’t miss out on anything! If you are interested in ayurvedic treatments, you’ll definitely want to stay for at least one week — the ayurvedic doctor won’t be able to do much for you if you are only there for a short time (the folks who only stayed for 3 nights hardly saw their doctor at all). I stayed in the Mulla room as well as the Treehouse - both were fantastic experiences. The room was really big and luxurious with a semi-private balcony to give guests a stunning view of the river. The treehouse is perfect for backpackers on a budget, but be aware that you will be right in the middle of nature, so it’s not for the faint of heart! Overall, Munkudil was pure relaxation. I had the most perfect stay and can’t wait to come back!

Very friendly and intimate resort with amazing views, lovely food, nice Pancha Karma and best of all ( for us) daily swims in the river. All very chilled out and relaxed. Ayurvedic doctor on site and treatments to suit individual body types, also daily yoga.
