Sublime vegetarian feast for 8 family members in honour of our wonderful Dad/Grandad. Richard and team made so much effort for us and we are truly grateful for such a special celebration. Sensational menu created especially for us, beautifully decorated room, roaring log fire, kind, friendly and attentive service, fabulous wine; a truly memorable occasion, thank you :-)

Eating at the Plantation House is truly a wonderful experience. The combination of ingredients and flavours is exceptional, and the presentation is a work of art. Very reasonably priced for this level of dining and wine selection is also sensibly priced. Lovely front of house staff & even met the gifted chef.

This is a really fabulous little hotel. I was surprised and delighted by the lovely room and the menu choices at dinner were excellent. A great breakfast, too. The staff are pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I was here on a business trip but will come back for pleasure soon.

My husband and myself visited Plantation House for a meal. The food was wonderful , absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Very relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very attentive without any fussing.the next time we go, we'll stay overnight! We will go again!🤗

A lot of thought & effort goes into this place, not just water but fruit and biscuits in the room, as well as a very comfortable bed and lovely shower. We were there for a wedding at Shilstone House which was perfect given that Plantation House was only 15 minutes away. We got back around 11pm and a staff member was there to greet us back and offer us a drink from the very well stocked bar. The only slight niggle I have is that I think £185 is a lot of money. We are going to a wedding in the Cotswolds and paying £145 for a room which was what I would normally expect to pay in Devon. However, we wanted to be close to the wedding venue and somewhere nice, which it definitely was.

What a great find! We booked this prior to a cross channel ferry to France. We arrived mid afternoon and had tea and fruit cake which was a lovely start. The room was just perfect luxurious comfortable and so spacious. We had lovely views across the countryside and everything you could possibly wish for. The shower was amazing, alos a nice dressing room alongside gave it that extra touch of luxury with gorgeous products included. The bed was like a cloud just perfect. We had dinner in the restaurant and the quality of the food presentation and cooking was outstanding pre dinner drinks we also lovely with the nice touch of olives and nuts to accompany. We had a wonderful nights sleep and woke to another great meal breakfast was again first class. My husband left our charging pad and after contacting the owner it was sent back to us for which I am very grateful. I can’t wait to go back to stay here but for a longer period next time. I highly recommend the Plantation House Hotel and Restaurant

We used our weekend stay to visit local friends. We hadn't seen Richard since the pandemic and it was a pleasure to meet him and his charming team again. They gave us a wonderful welcome and looked after us very well; nothing was too much trouble. Our en-suite room was very comfortable and well-equipped. Dinner on Saturday night was truly outstanding! Such care and thought had gone into each dish; breakfasts were equally delicious. An excellent rating barely does the hotel justice, it's fabulous!

An evening meal in their restaurant was superb. We are all vegetarian and Richard created a special menu for us. Every course was delicious. It is best to book in advance and specify vegetarian so tha they have time to design the best possible menu.
