Great location, literally 2 minutes on foot to the Erfurt Cathedral. Great breakfast, good variety, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. The room itself is not what one will expect from a 4-stars-hotel. Absolutely uncomfortable, cold, old furniture which doesn't suit to such a hotel. Horribly noisy, basically you can hear your neighbours, awful! Not to mention the old noisy a/c! No coffee maker or at least a kettle in the room! Instead you're kindly asked to go to the reception and buy coffee or any drinks from the vending machine. And please, people, check the tissues package! If there are only several tissues left, then you'd better change the whole package instead of waiting till it's empty...or am I wrong?! During my next trip to Erfurt I will definitely try another hotel to compare it, this one gets from me the lowest possible mark!

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. I had to work at booking this hotel because finding and then using their website is quite challenging. Getting the various pages to present in English is the first hurdle. However, it was worth it . I booked an apartment on the third floor. It was just great….. lovely and well-equipped kitchen and bath, living room, dining area. Very clean and all updated. Super quiet. The reception staff was helpful and pleasant. The location was very convenient within walking distance of the sights, train station (10 minutes), and a shopping center on Anger with everything you might need. I wouldn’t bother with their restaurant. It’s pretentious and the food isn’t worth the money. I would very readily stay here again in an apartment.

Our family room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was also bigger than in the standard double rooms of the hotel chain. Although it was located directly on the main road, the noise was absolutely bearable (with the soundproof windows closed) and we slept very well. The proximity to the main train station and the city center, combined with the price-performance ratio, was the perfect combination for us. We recommend this hotel for a city trip to the beautiful state capital.

Modern design hotel near Erfurt main train station, and a short walk to old city center. Standard double room was simple but comfortable, very clean, with good beds and bathroom. Nice staff, but check-in process seemed a little slow - we had to queue up for some minutes despite there were not so many guests awaiting check-in. Breakfast was good (buffet) but a little crowded .

The hotel is just a little away from Erfurt. But you are in 20 minutes by car in the city centre. Parking is abundant and costs 2 Euros per night. The staff is very attentive and super child friendly. The facilities in the entire hotel are modern and extremely maintained. The rooms are very clean and equipped with everything you need. Breakfast was rich and the choice was excellent. The restaurant was very good food. However, we would have wished a small selection of children's foods. If we are back close, we will certainly book this hotel.

Cet hôtel est très agréable, calme et idéalement situé pour se promener à pied dans Weimar. Le personnel de la réception est adorable et globalement, le service est excellent, tout comme le petit déjeuner. Le voiturier est un plus indéniable pour ceux qui, comme moi, ont la flemme d'aller se garer au parking public juste en face où des places sont réservées. La chambre était bien aménagée et relativement spacieuse, le lit confortable. Le savon et le gel douche sentaient délicieusement bon. Les moins : - pas de prises pour charger téléphones, tablette, PC etc., ou alors elles étaient tellement bien cachées que je ne les ai pas vues. J'ai dû charger dans la salle de bains, un appareil après l'autre ; - la salle de bains datait un peu. Le gros moins qui me pousse à ne donner qu'une note de 3, c'est mon immense déception de la Saint Nicolas. Habituée à séjourner dans des hôtels en Allemagne pendant l'Avent, c'est la TOUTE première fois qu'au matin du 6 décembre, il n'y avait pas une petite attention devant la porte de ma chambre. Partout où je suis allée, à Lübeck, à Brême, à Hanovre, à Munich, à Nuremberg, à Stuttgart, à Ludwigsburg, à Hamburg, à Sarrebruck etc., j'ai toujours eu le grand bonheur en ouvrant la porte de ma chambre le matin de trouver un père Noël en chocolat et/ou une pomme... Es tut mir Leid dass meine Enttäuschung die Note von 4 auf 3 runterpurzeln lässt...

We spent 3 nights in the hotel at the castle park and were very satisfied with the entire hotel offer of this owner-led business. Breakfast and dinner were good to very good, the service very friendly and professional. It is also important to highlight the good location with short paths to the attractions and the old town.
