Hotel de Champagne

According to the website, we were expecting two modern and clean rooms. However, the hotel is quite old in many areas and not all of the rooms have been renovated: a worn, stained carpet, furniture from the 70s and a dripping ceiling in the bathroom are not what you would expect! Our room was better, but you shouldn't look too closely... there is still a lot of room for improvement, including in terms of cleanliness! The rooms are very small, there is no wardrobe and unfortunately the hotel is very noisy. The breakfast was OK, the service was attentive. At €13 per person for breakfast you can't complain. The location is good - you are right in the center of the city and can reach everything on foot.

This was booked last minute so went for the location and happy to go cheap and cheerful as it was only 1 night and were out all day. Given the price point most things were acceptable, nothing fancy, no frills and that’s okay. Everything was neat and very clean. The problem lies that there is no ventilation in the room. -no windows or AC. We didn’t notice until late at night, after dinner. There is a random door to the garden and car park outside but no screen and no way we were going to leave it open through the night. So of course the room got stuffy and uncomfortable to sleep in. Not sure on the laws in France but think rooms should offer some form of ventilation.
Vacancéole - les Demeures Champenoises Confort

AVOID Don't stay in this hotel if: you like your room dark, your beds not creaky, but most of all if you would like your hotel to take responsibility for other guests being able to enter your room during the night. Around 2:30 PM we were woken up by another (drunk) guest in our room, who was accompanied by a group of friends outside. My wife was terrified. Safe to say we did not sleep much after that. The next day we took this up with the reception, where security footage showed that the door opened by itself in the early hours of the night. The door had been closed properly and locked. The hotel proceeded to do their very best to put the blame for this occurrence on us and on the guest entering our room in the middle of the night, even when it turned out the door-closing mechanism was faulty as it was not screwed onto the door. The hotel manager even tried to downplay the fact that the door-closing mechanism was faulty to us. Then, the email address they provided to us to escalate our complaint bounced (yes, we double-checked the spelling). As a result, we've lost all trust in this hotel, and we'd not be surprised if they try to blame us again for the door opening by itself due to a faulty door-closing mechanism in the middle of the night in a response below. At least none of our things were taken and my wife wasn't alone in the room. It could have been much worse than a few lost hours of sleep. We will never stay in any Vacancéole property ever again. We'd recommend you to do the same.
Le 25Bis by Leclerc Briant

This was our 3rd stay at Le25bis, and each time has been excellent. The staff are so helpful, nothing is an issue. The atmosphere is calm and there is high attention to detail with everything. Breakfast feels like a treat in such a beautiful dining room, with plenty of choice and eggs cooked fresh to order. Our room was so comfortable with a huge bed and good air conditioning, lovely bathroom with Dyptique products. Car parking was secure and shaded, basically everything was as we’d hoped. Amazing champagne available to buy from the on-site shop, we even had a glass with breakfast, which was a treat. Le25bis provides exceptional service and hospitality, a true gem.
ibis Epernay Centre Ville

Stayed here for one night as a stopover, there’s an underground car park which is a couple of minutes walk away and costs around 15 eur for 24 hours. Hotel is clean and modern, comfy bed and great shower. Can’t complain at all - all very comfortable and location is perfect in the middle of town. Didn’t have the breakfast but there’s a good bakery in town 5 minutes walk away where you can get coffee , sandwiches and pastries.
