Having seen photos in a brochure, the hotel looked fantastic, however I think they may have been old ones . Don't get me wrong it's still very pleasant, but looking a little tired . But what it lacks in looks , pales into insignificance when you meet the staff. Friendly, attentive and often funny, your wish is their command. From the front desk to the restaurant staff , the bar staff and the very efficient cleaning staff , they are all terrific . Now for the main part of the stay , the food . First night was a disaster, not due to the hotel , but the coach travel firm , getting us there about 4hrs late . The hotel tried to rescue the situation by supplying soup and sandwiches, which were very much appreciated after 13hrs on the road . There were a few grumpy travellers, but on the whole it was ok . So one evening meal missed , breakfast was an absolute necessity and we weren't disappointed. Massive choice piping hot and eat to your hearts content. The bar set high by breakfast, the evening meal was readily awaited and it didn't disappoint. We pre-booked what we wanted from a choice of 3 and it was excellent. All 3 evening meals were to a very high standard and were really well presented. The bar area was quite dark , but seemed relatively clean . The entertainment was good too. Drink prices very reasonable and a more than adequate choice. The bedrooms as I mentioned were a little bit drab , but very clean and comfortable. The pictures in the brochure, show a magnificent swimming pool, this however is in a sports centre across the road and obviously chargeable. We didn't however have time to try it due to excursions each day . All in all a very positive stay . Yes we would stay again, but not via ferry.
