Great place to stay; not far from Engelberg city centre (approx. 25 minutes walk or 302 bus; bus is free like all buses in Engelberg). Good connection to Titlis / Brunni / Furenalp so you can choose your activity without much planning depending on the weather. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. We had some special food requirements and hotel went extra mile to meet these without making any fuzz – we have been really touched by their approach. Rooms are big and comfortable (we stayed in room 17, first floor), clean and quiet. Breakfast is good, good choice, no complaints here. Restaurant across the road is very good as well. Pool is great!; we visited in March, we have been using it every day after snow-filled activities, no crowds, usually we have been alone. Our daughter loved it, slide being obviously the main attraction. Small shop with all essentials is a welcomed bonus.

I would recommend to anyone visiting Engelberg to stay at the center . The hotel is cut off from the center , a 20 minute walk . It is more a camping site than a hotel . The hotel is just a small portion as the caravans located in the grounds of the hotel are abundant . The hotel has a spa , however it is not only accessible to the guests of the hotel but also to the people in the camping site and the public . Therefore we did not use it as it was always very crowded with chicken jumping in the pool . The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is basic but good .

I really want to be able to give this place a 5-star review, but unfortunately they make no distinction between tenters and car campers when it comes to plot provision. I’m currently lying in bed, and have been surrounded by car campers opening and slamming their car doors for the past hour. One car opposite my plot even shined their car’s bright headlights on my tent two nights in a row. Please, Camping Eienwändli, put guests without cars in a separate area from guests with cars. Even better, would be to simply have a separate parking lot, and not let guests park their cars among the tents. Aside from all that…. I must give my appreciation to the lovely staff, and the terrific amenities here. But I also must ask; why care about clean bathrooms, but not care about clean air by the tents, free of people idling their engines?

Not recommendable for camper with dogs. They do not bother about animals and do not inform you when fireworks happen next to the campsite. We were placed next to a huge professional firework site and experienced a horrifying 2 hours firework at Silvester, although we were asking whether it will be quiet. No need to mention the trauma of our dog, and also ours because this firework was extremely loud and long lasting. The area where we were placed seemed to be reserved for camper with dogs, all others had the same problem. The owners should have known about the planned fireworks, and did not warn us. Unacceptable…. Furthermore this area was poorly prepared for winter camping, the water at the service station was closed, we had to walk a long way to the reception area. Further it got icy and frozen like a skating field without any treatment. Injuries were likely.

We stayed 3 nights at the camping. It was our first winter camping experience. The camping itself is nothing special; I would have preferred more space between the vans (for privacy). The sanitary infrastructure is good and toilets/showers area very clean. We had twice breakfast at the hotel, not much choice, very simple but okay. Didn’t use the pool as it was crowded during a snowy day. HOWEVER BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the restaurant. It was amazingly good. Excellent quality, really good flavor, generous portions and 5* and kind service (never get no as an answer). We chose to have dinner there every night. Price wise, it’s rather expensive but totally worth it!!! You’re happy to pay for what you get. We had the different fish options from the menu; really delicious. Burgers are really good too. But the BEST of the BEST was the spaghetti with King Prawns; seriously good; so tasteful. We ordered it every night and complimented the chef every time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

Right off Via Alpina! Friendly and efficient front desk. Fabulous breakfast. Request a freshly made cappucino. Rooms were spacious, clean and extremely quiet. We slept with windows wide open to the fresh Swiss mountain air. Strange name for a hotel and was pleasantly surprised even though there were trailer homes all around! A small convenient store had cold beer, wine and all sorts of essentials.

The reason for only 2 stars I will come to in a moment. The site is in a fantastic location in a valley surrounded by huge mountains with easy access to cable cars and signed walking / cycle routes. The scenery is breathtaking. Most of the plots are spacious with a couple of crystal clear streams running through the site. The toilet / shower blocks are modern and spotless. Staff are friendly, the shop is very well stocked but very expensive although this is Switzerland ! The reason for only 2 stars - We booked this site on a Saturday and arrived 2 days later on the monday to find there were substantial groundwork’s going on with 2 large trenches 1 going across the campsite and the other down a lot of the middle. At 7am on all 3 days we were woken by a digger, dumper truck and a ground compressor which were very very noisy. When we returned to the campsite on each day they were still at work with the same noise. They finished at around 5pm. O the first morning I did complain stating that they really should state the current work on their website. I was told it did state this on the website but was removed before they realised the work needed to go on for a further week, I received what seemed like a begrudging apology and told she would ask her boss to see if they could give us a reduction in the rate. Two days later we left with no further comment or reduction in the rate. It wasn’t really about the money it was just so disappointing to have the horrendous noise around you when the surrounding mountains are so quiet and peaceful. If it wasn’t for the work and the seemingly complete lack of awareness or understanding from the staff I would have given this site 5 stars
