We spent three nights at Traditions in April. Our visit was a somber one, for we had traveled to Johnson City to attend the funeral of a young nephew who had died suddenly. In spite of the sad circumstances of our visit, we were able to enjoy and appreciate the hospitality of the staff as well as the comforts of the hotel and the surrounding grounds. We stayed in room 2102, a king room with an excellent bed and a spacious bathroom with all the amenities. Our room rate included a superb breakfast buffet each morning, and it offered a wide range of well-prepared food, such as scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, beautiful fresh fruit, yogurts, and breads. The coffee was particularly good and strong. Emily, a friendly young woman who took care of the guests in the breakfast room, was wonderfully kind and someone we looked forward to seeing each day. The staff could not have been more generous to us, especially after they learned why we had traveled to Traditions from Ohio. Barbara at the reception was always inquiring about how we and the rest of our family were coping, and Mr. Vincent Sano, the general manager, is a hands-on overseer of the hotel who is always visible and eager to do anything you might need to make your stay enjoyable. On our last morning at Traditions, the parents of the young man who had died came to the hotel to make their goodbyes to us before we headed back to Ohio. We had alerted the desk staff that they would be coming to see us off, and the staff arranged an act of kindness which was extraordinary and well beyond anything we could ever have expected. I hesitate to specify what this act of kindness was, since I would not want to set an awkward precedent for the hotel. Suffice it to say that the staff, and especially Mr. Sano, extended a warm welcome and a heartfelt act of kindness to two grieving parents who had just lost their only child. We will be returning to Traditions in July to reconnect with family, and we look forward to seeing the Traditions staff once again, especially since this upcoming stay will not carry the heavy emotional weight of the first visit. In many ways, the Traditions staff will be part of the “family” that we’ll be very happy to see again. Bill McLoughlin in Columbus, Ohio

This has become our favorite place to stay in the Binghamton area. We're here once a year or so to see family. We like the quiet, the walking paths and the view over the valley especially in fall when the colors blaze. We like the building's character - not a soulless beige box - and the old photos of its history as an IBM retreat. We like the location, 2 minutes from a Wegman's with a great cafe, and the local ethnic restaurants. The included breakfast buffet is by no means fancy (the expected eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles) but still a step above average: the fruit salad is fresh & pretty, the yogurt is Chobani, the bread & bagels have heft. And the tables have white cloths and real silverware. My very favorite highlight is the treat of an actual bathtub soak after a long day's drive. I hope they never tear them out for just showers like so many places have. Everything is clean, though some edges show the patina of time. The service is pleasant and well trained. Never tried the spa or golf but they seem popular. We appreciate their reliability & we'll keep coming back.

I was here for my daughter's wedding shower from out of town. The outside surroundings are beautiful and the rooms inside are also, The buffet food was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive. This was a great venue for this event and would be wonderful for any occasion!

I stayed here for three nights while in town for business. I picked the property because I like staying at 'non-traditional/non-chain' properties when possible, and this popped up within the same price range as other local chains. The staff was pleasant, and the grounds are nicely manicured, but the hotel itself could use some updates. The fact that it's an older building leads to a need for a fairly significant update. Carpets appeared worn, and in my closet the sprinkler piping was basically run through an unfinished hole in the drywall. My iron did not work well, so had to get another one. One of the two lamps in my room did not work, so had to have it replaced. Staff acted quickly to remedy these issues, but I was surprised to have them in the first place. General room cleanliness was acceptable, but I noticed some leftover lint and a stray hair or two in the drawers of the dresser. It was mainly small, attention to detail issues. I would not rule out staying here again, but I'd have to carefully consider my options. I also noticed that the noise from the downstairs carried very well into my room, which was at the top of the stairs above the tavern area. Things quieted down after 10 or so, but I was concerned that this could be a problem in other scenarios. This property could be great with a bit of $$ placed toward upkeep. For now, I have to rate it as 'average', but only barely so.

Room was very very outdated and depressing. Grounds were ok, could have been kept up better. Brunch was missing food and took too long to fill. I was disappointed in this place, especially for the price in that area. Sheets on bed had a stain. Housekeeping gave a new sheet, but didn't put on bed until requested housekeeping to please give the proper sheet for bed!

Apparently you can't respond to your original review to state no action was taken by the GM of the property without removing your first review...hmmmm. Previously reviewed on here the horrible conditions experienced at this Choice Hotel chain property. This is an old outdated property with terrible moisture issues and the pictures that are supposedly updated in 2022 were photoshopped images. There is evidence of mold damage all over the Jeanette Watson Suite...water damaged bathroom ceiling and cracked unsealed patio doors allowing moisture in. AC cant remove the humidity no matter how low you place the thermostat. The patio is covered with rubber horse stall mats probably to avoid leaking into the ballroom. Anyway...this is my second review since I wanted to edit my original review and instead it was removed along with the GM's response by Tripadvisor. I did reach out by emailing the GM by replying to his original email thanking me for feedback from the Choice Hotel website survey (which never posted my review). I have not heard back from him after a week. His original response was disappointment after a 4 night stay. I would have left after the FIRST night but was locked into a prepaid rate which I'll never do again. I'm not looking for a refund. I'm not that type of person. I simply want it known to OTHERS this suite is a dump and should not be deemed habitable. Read the reviews about condesnsation and being a historic property as excuses. There was no central air in 1901.

Moldy musty whirlpool suite but booked a no refund discount rate for 4 nights. This room should be shut down due to health concerns. Obvious water damage on bathroom ceiling and leaky patio doors that contribute to the damp musty feel. Wouldnt stay here again for free. Bought a cheap temp/humidity reader from Tractor Supply to see how bad it was. Kept room thermostat at 60 the whole time and temps read 68 degrees with 65 to 70% humidity. Put the reader on top of the thermostat to compare and it read 66 degrees and 62% humidity after an hour! Whole suite felt like a damp basement due to clogged exhaust fans and leaky doors that led to a balcony that had rubber floor mats all over it...went out there two minutes and that was it. All the furniture was sticky along with a soiled area rug and sticky wood floors. Even the drapery stunk of mold. Guess the place relies on weddings and catered events because I will admit its saving grace is the chef in the Tavern restaurant. NYC quality food and would come back if passing through the area just for a meal. Restaurant prices to me are decent for the amount and quality of food you get and this comes from two foodies. Service is passable although I dont know what they had working as the overnight desk clerk when I complained about these things. His reply was shrugged shoulders and telling me maintenance comes in at 7 AM.Noone ever came to check the issue out. This is an outdated property in disrepair that should only serve as a catering hall but can only attest to the suite I stayed in. Oh and the reviewer who complained about the Wi-Fi and was told it was weak at the other end of the hotel??? I was literally right on top of the office and the wi-fi was CONSTANTLY dropping about every 5 minutes. Very frustrating to see what else to do in the area and had to resort to turning on the data to my phone.

We stayed at Traditions at the Glen to go to a memorial service for a dear friend, and there were several others in the family staying there also. The room was lovely and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel provided in the shower and had ample towels. The thermostat worked, which was helpful since it was so cold outside all weekend! We arrived Friday night before the restaurant closed and though the menu seems limited, the food was delicious. There is a full service bar also. Breakfast is a buffet with scrambled eggs (I asked if they were real and was told they were liquid eggs(?)) and either bacon or sausage, and make your own waffles, cold cereals, bagels, fresh fruit, etc. The staff was very friendly and the history of the property is evident all over the first floor in photos of what the property was like when IBM owned it. I would stay here again, especially if the weather were warmer so we could play golf and enjoy the spa!

We spent four days at Traditions at the Glen for a family gathering, booking two suites and two queen rooms. The suite and the hotel common spaces were great for socializing. The atmosphere at Traditions is classy, relaxed and quiet. The grounds are beautiful. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. It is our favorite hotel in the Binghamton area. We will definitely return!
